| Description/Notes: | Position: 6th/7th Grade Science Teacher Campus: Royal Junior High School Reports To: Campus Principal Contract: Teacher Contract / 184 Days Pay Grade: Teacher Pay Scale Position Summary Royal ISD is seeking a dedicated and student-centered 6th/7th Grade Science Teacher to join the instructional team at Royal Junior High School. The teacher will provide engaging, high-quality science instruction that supports student learning, curiosity, critical thinking, and academic growth. The ideal candidate will create a positive classroom environment, use data to guide instruction, and implement instructional strategies aligned to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills. This position requires strong classroom management, effective communication, and a commitment to helping all students succeed. Qualifications Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university Valid Texas teaching certificate appropriate for middle school science assignment Science 4–8 certification preferred ESL certification preferred Special Knowledge/Skills Knowledge of science curriculum, TEKS, and instructional best practices Ability to design and deliver engaging lessons that support diverse learners Strong classroom management and organization skills Ability to analyze student data and adjust instruction to meet student needs Effective communication and collaboration skills Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff Willingness to support campus goals, district initiatives, and student success Major Responsibilities and Duties Provide instruction in 6th and/or 7th grade science in accordance with district curriculum and state standards. Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district’s curriculum program. Use effective instructional strategies, hands-on learning, technology, and inquiry-based activities to promote student engagement. Assess student learning through formal and informal methods and use data to guide instruction. Create a classroom environment that is safe, supportive, respectful, and conducive to learning. Establish and maintain high expectations for student behavior and academic achievement. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including students receiving special education, 504, ESL, and intervention supports. Communicate regularly with students, parents, campus staff, and administrators regarding student progress and needs. Collaborate with grade-level, department, and campus teams to support instructional planning and student achievement. Maintain accurate records, including grades, attendance, student progress, and required documentation. Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, PLCs, and campus/district initiatives. Perform other duties as assigned. Working Conditions Mental Demands: Ability to communicate effectively, maintain emotional control under stress, manage multiple priorities, and work collaboratively with students, staff, and families. Physical Demands: Frequent standing, walking, bending, and moving throughout the classroom and campus. May require lifting and carrying instructional materials and science lab supplies.
