Royal Junior High School serves students in a growing community and is seeking a dedicated, student-centered Special Education In-Class Support Teacher to support students’ academic, behavioral, social, and functional success.

Description/Notes

Royal Junior High School is seeking a committed Special Education In-Class Support Teacher to provide instructional support and services to students receiving special education services in the general education setting. The ideal candidate will collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, campus administration, related service providers, students, and families to ensure students receive appropriate accommodations, modifications, and instructional support.

The Special Education In-Class Support Teacher will support student access to the general curriculum, assist with implementation of Individualized Education Programs, and promote an inclusive learning environment where all students can be successful.

Primary Purpose

Provide special education students with learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Support students in the general education setting through in-class support, accommodations, modifications, progress monitoring, and collaboration with instructional staff.

Qualifications

Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Valid Texas teaching certificate
Valid Texas special education certification required
ESL certification preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of special education laws, procedures, and instructional practices
Knowledge of Admission, Review, and Dismissal/Individualized Education Program processes
Ability to implement accommodations, modifications, behavior supports, and instructional interventions
Ability to work collaboratively with general education teachers and support staff
Ability to analyze student data and monitor progress toward IEP goals
Strong classroom management, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and the community

Experience:
Successful student teaching or approved internship required
Experience working with students receiving special education services preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties

Provide in-class support to students receiving special education services in the general education setting.

Collaborate with general education teachers to plan, support, and implement accommodations, modifications, and instructional strategies aligned to student IEPs.

Support students’ access to the general curriculum through small-group support, individual assistance, reteaching, intervention, and progress monitoring.

Assist with the implementation of students’ Individualized Education Programs, including instructional goals, behavior supports, accommodations, and modifications.

Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals and objectives.

Participate in ARD meetings, staffing meetings, parent conferences, and campus meetings as appropriate.

Provide input and documentation to support IEP development, progress reporting, and instructional planning.

Maintain accurate records and documentation required by federal law, state law, district procedures, and campus expectations.

Work collaboratively with special education case managers, related service providers, counselors, administrators, and instructional staff.

Support positive student behavior through implementation of behavior intervention plans, classroom supports, and campus expectations.

Communicate regularly and professionally with parents, students, teachers, administrators, and support staff regarding student progress and needs.

Assist with state and district assessments by ensuring appropriate accommodations are implemented.

Maintain confidentiality of student information and comply with all district, state, and federal requirements related to special education.

Follow all district policies, campus procedures, and safety protocols.

Attend required staff meetings, professional development, and district/campus events.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Range

Based on the Royal ISD approved teacher pay scale and years of experience.

Salary Range: $61,000-$82,407 (base)

+$1,000 Master's Degree
+1,000 Doctorate Degree
