| Description/Notes: | Minimum Education/Certification: ● Master’s degree in Educational Administration, Curriculum and Instruction, or related field. ● Valid State Administrative, Principal, or Mid-Management Certification (preferred) Special Knowledge/skills: ● In-depth knowledge of best practices in curriculum, instruction, and assessment ● Ability to evaluate curriculum, instruction, and assessment programs and teaching effectiveness ● Experience in planning and presenting staff development for teachers and staff ● Experience in master schedule planning ● Experience in preparing and managing budgets and personnel ● Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data ● Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills ● Ability to function as a member of a high-performing team Experience ● Minimum of 5 years of successful classroom teaching experience at the elementary school level. ● Minimum of 3 years of school leadership experience (e.g., as a Secondary Principal, Assistant Principal, or District Instructional Specialist). |
| Qualifications: | Major Responsibilities and Duties: Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment ● Lead the development, revision, and implementation of a rigorous, state-aligned secondary curriculum across all core subject areas, based on student achievement data, input from teachers, and systematic evaluation of the teaching and learning process. ● Lead the district in the Professional Learning Communities Process by promoting and supporting a focus on learning for all (staff and students), a collaborative culture, and a focus on student outcomes. ● Works with principals, instructional coaches, and teachers to ensure understanding of the depth and complexity of the state curriculum, through unpacking standards and identifying what mastery is for each TEKS. ● Utilize district trends from both formal and informal observations to improve instructional delivery of grade level curriculum. ● Work collaboratively with other academic directors and coordinators to align and improve curriculum and instruction for special populations, including advanced academics, bilingual/ESL, and special education students. ● Collaborate with campus administration to create master schedules that maximize instructional time, student learning, and teacher collaboration. ● Oversee the evaluation, selection, and adoption of High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM), textbooks, and digital learning tools for secondary schools. ● Ensure curriculum is seamlessly aligned horizontally across classrooms and vertically to prepare for college and career readiness. ● Promote and monitor the usage of evidence-based instructional strategies, with a heavy emphasis on early literacy (Science of Reading) and foundational numeracy. ● Disaggregate, calculate, and interpret student assessment data, including all state assessments, NWEA MAP Assessments, MClass, and curriculum based assessments, and provide data regarding student growth projections and campus performance after each assessment to district and campus administrators. ● Analyze student achievement data to identify student learning gaps, curriculum alignment issues, and instructional weaknesses to adjust instructional programming. ● Oversee the organization of logistics for scheduling and conducting all testing in the district, including staffing, distribution, and security monitoring and confidentiality of all state-mandated testing programs and district assessments. ● Collaborate with campus testing coordinators to plan and administer college readiness assessments, including the TSIA2, PSAT, SAT, ACT, AP, and ASVAB. ● Maintain, monitor, and audit real-time tracking systems for student CCMR indicators for grades 9–12, including CCMR Outcomes Bonus ● Oversee the quality data review process to ensure all college readiness scores, dual credit hours, and industry certifications are accurately uploaded and reported for state accountability. Professional Learning and Support ● Plan, implement, and evaluate district-wide professional learning plans for secondary teachers, instructional coaches, and campus administrators through program evaluation, alignment to district vision and mission, and input from teachers and staff. ● Partner with secondary school principals to build their capacity as instructional leaders and help them implement and achieve goals identified in their campus improvement plans. ● Utilize knowledge of the curriculum and instruction development process to facilitate teacher development of appropriate learning experiences for students. ● Secure consultants, specialists, and other resources for principals, teachers, and other staff to assist in attaining objectives. Administrative and Fiscal Management ● Formulate, justify, and manage the secondary curriculum department budget, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal funding guidelines. ● Ensure all secondary instructional programs meet state education agency regulations and school board policies. Personnel Management ● Recruit, hire, and train secondary academic coordinators, instructional coaches, and department staff. ● Use effective evaluation methods and practices to refine and grow instructional leadership within the Academic Division. ● Assist the district in developing observation methods to improve teacher effectiveness. Supervisory Responsibilities ● Secondary Academic Coordinators ● District Instructional Materials Coordinator ● Assessment and Accountability Coordinator ● Collaborates with campus principals to evaluate performance of Instructional Coaches and Academic Deans Working Conditions & Physical Demands ● Office environment with frequent travel to various district school campuses and community events. ● Standard sedentary office work with regular periods of standing, walking, and presenting. Occasional light lifting (up to 20 lbs) of instructional materials. ● Requires attendance at evening meetings (School Board meetings, community forums) and occasional weekend workshops. Evaluation Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on the evaluation of administrative personnel. |
