Description/Notes: Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning, manage the district’s instructional program and provide leadership to campus administrators in the area of student achievement and growth. Collaborate with district staff and outside personnel to manage the
administration, evaluation, supervision, and improvement of the various instructional programs of the district. Plan and implement instructional initiatives and provide staff development for assigned initiatives.
Direct and manage the district career & technical education (CTE) program. Collaborate with district staff and outside personnel to coordinate the administration, evaluation, supervision, and improvement of the CTE program for the district. Plan and implement assigned CTE instructional initiatives and provide staff development for assigned initiatives.
Coordinate and administer the annual Advanced Placement (AP) exams for the district.
Help coordinate teacher recruitment and retention activities.
Qualifications: Education/Certification:
Master’s degree in educational leadership/administration
Valid Texas Administrator’s Certification
Valid Texas Teaching Certification
Certified Texas Teacher Evaluations and Support System (T-TESS) appraiser

Experience:
Minimum of three years’ experience as a classroom teacher in public education with successful
experience with students.
Minimum of three years’ experience in administrative/instructional leadership role in public education with successful implementation and coordination of programs
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Program Management (under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent for Teaching & Learning)
1. Assist in the formation of philosophy, goals, objectives, and strategies for the district’s
instructional program.
2. Plan, implement, and evaluate instructional programs with teachers, principals, and other instructional leaders.
3. Manage the review, development, and revision of all subject area programs and related
curriculum documents and materials, including curriculum guides and teaching plans.
4. Work cooperatively with district and campus leadership in developing and supervising
instructional initiatives.
5. Assist principals in areas of instructional leadership and actively support the efforts of
campuses to achieve campus and district goals and performance objectives.
6. Keep informed of developments in teaching and learning/curriculum and instruction to
furnish leadership in determining its appropriateness for inclusion in the district’s educational program.
7. Oversee district and campus assessment design and make recommendations for
improvement where appropriate.
8. Evaluate the campus’s instructional effectiveness based on evaluative findings (including
student achievement data) and recommend changes as needed.
9. Work with district technology staff and outside vendors to ensure teachers and administrators
have the support, equipment, and materials needed to implement technology-based
instructional initiatives.
10. Work with district staff, principals, and teachers to select instructional technology equipment
and software related to instructional initiatives.
11. Assist with the implementation of technology initiatives related to instructional initiatives.
12. Oversee the development of innovative career and technical education instructional programs
and ensure that curricular documents, instructional support materials, student assessment
instruments, and admission criteria are in place for each program. Ensure that curriculum
renewal is continuous and responsive to student needs.
13. Identify and define local job opportunities for students. Recruit employers to hire students and work with the district to make opportunities for experience learning available.
14. Assume responsibility for career and technical education facilities and ensure that equipment and materials are available and in optimal operating condition.
15. Provide all campuses with career exploration and awareness resources and testing materials.
16. Evaluate the career and technical education program effectiveness based on evaluative findings (including student achievement data) and recommend changes as needed.
17. Ensure that student progress is evaluated and that findings are used to make the career and technical education program more effective.
18. Develop training options and/or improvement plans to ensure effective operation of career and technical education department.
