| Description/Notes: | The K-3rd Grade RLA specialist's primary role is to support campuses and teachers in effectively implementing research-based literacy practices to strengthen RLA instruction. |
| Qualifications: | Education/Training: Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood, Education, or Reading from an accredited university Master’s Degree in related field (preferred) Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for the subject and level assigned Completed TEA’s requirement of the Reading Academy Candidate must have a satisfactory outcome of the fingerprinting check/background check Special Knowledge/Skills: Strong knowledge of curriculum and instruction, including best practices in the development of reading and writing skills through structured literacy Strong knowledge of the Science of Teaching Reading (STR) Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to organize and coordinate district-wide program Expertise in data analysis to improve student achievement Ability to communicate effectively with administrators and teachers Deep knowledge of PK-5 RLA content and TEKS Deep understanding of best practices regarding language acquisition Provide coaching and teaching leadership experience in RLA classrooms Deep knowledge and experience in the use of research-based instructional practices and creating optimal conditions for learning in RLA classroom settings Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience as a classroom teacher (early elementary preferred) |
