Description/Notes: Seeking highly qualified applicants for the position of High School Principal. School Principals are the backbone of any educational institution, playing a crucial role in shaping the future of students, teachers, and the school community. The Principal serves as the visionary leader responsible for creating and sustaining a positive, safe, and student-centered environment that fosters learning, growth, achievement, and excellence.

La Grange ISD seeks a dynamic and highly qualified instructional leader to direct and manage all campus operations at La Grange High School. The Principal will provide strong instructional leadership to ensure high standards of teaching and student achievement through the development, implementation, and continuous evaluation of curriculum and instructional programs. Responsibilities include overseeing teacher management and professional development; promoting student discipline, safety, and welfare; and ensuring a culture of high expectations, accountability, and academic success.

The Principal will cultivate meaningful parent and community engagement, support school events and extracurricular activities, and foster positive relationships with students, staff, families, and community stakeholders. The position also requires effective budgeting and resource management to maximize campus efficiency and student outcomes. Additionally, the Principal will lead crisis management efforts, oversee continuous school improvement initiatives, and ensure compliance with all district policies, state and federal laws, and regulatory requirements while maintaining the effective operation of all campus activities.
Qualifications: QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Master's degree from accredited university
Texas principal or another appropriate Texas certificate
Certified Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS) appraiser

Special Knowledge/Skills:
Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness
Ability to manage budget and personnel
Ability to implement policy and procedures
Ability to interpret data
Excellent organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills

Experience:
Four years experience as a classroom teacher preferred
Four years experience in instructional leadership roles preferred


RESPONSIBILITIES: Major Responsibilities and Duties

Instructional Management

Monitor and evaluate instructional programs and processes to ensure alignment with campus goals, student performance outcomes, and district expectations; utilize data and program evaluation findings to implement continuous improvement initiatives and corrective actions when necessary.
Ensure staff members have access to high-quality instructional resources, technology, materials, and professional support needed to achieve instructional excellence and student success.
Establish and communicate high expectations for professional performance related to instructional delivery, classroom management, student engagement, and effective communication with students, parents, staff, and the community.
Promote a collaborative and student-centered culture by fostering collegiality, teamwork, shared leadership, and professional learning among faculty and staff members.
Encourage meaningful staff participation in campus decision-making processes and cultivate a climate of innovation, accountability, and continuous growth.
Seek regular input and feedback from campus-level committees regarding the planning, implementation, supervision, and evaluation of the instructional program, while including students, parents, and community stakeholders when appropriate.
School or Organization Improvement

Develop, communicate, and sustain a shared vision for campus improvement that reflects the district mission, promotes academic excellence, and supports the success and well-being of all students.
Lead strategic planning activities and implement evidence-based programs and initiatives designed to accomplish campus performance goals and organizational objectives.
Establish measurable campus performance objectives aligned with Academic Excellence Indicators and district priorities through a collaborative site-based decision-making process.
Monitor, analyze, and communicate campus performance data to evaluate progress, identify areas of need, and drive continuous school improvement efforts.
Foster open, transparent, and interactive communication among the superintendent, staff, students, parents, and community members to strengthen partnerships and support student achievement.
Student Management

Serve as the campus behavioral coordinator in compliance with all applicable state laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.
Collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and families to develop and maintain a proactive student discipline management system that promotes positive student behavior, accountability, safety, and a supportive school climate.
Ensure consistent, equitable, and appropriate application of campus rules, disciplinary procedures, and student expectations in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and campus handbook.
Conduct conferences and facilitate productive communication with parents, students, and staff regarding student achievement, behavior, attendance, and school-related concerns.
Promote student well-being by fostering a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment that supports academic, social, and emotional growth.
Management of Fiscal, Administrative, and Facilities Functions

Ensure compliance with all district policies, administrative procedures, and applicable state and federal laws and regulations governing school operations.
Develop, manage, and monitor campus budgets based on documented program needs, enrollment projections, and district priorities while ensuring fiscal responsibility and cost-effective operations.
Compile, maintain, and submit all required reports, records, and documentation in an accurate and timely manner, including attendance accounting and textbook requisitions.
Oversee the effective use, maintenance, and security of campus facilities to ensure a clean, safe, orderly, and welcoming learning environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Coordinate campus operational procedures and resources to support efficient day-to-day school functions and organizational effectiveness.
[Secondary Principals: Direct and oversee extracurricular, co-curricular, and intramural programs, including the management and accountability of multiple activity funds.]
Personnel Management

Recruit, select, supervise, develop, and evaluate campus personnel and make recommendations regarding assignment, retention, professional growth, corrective action, contract renewal, and separation of employment.
Approve and oversee all personnel assigned to the campus to ensure alignment with campus goals, staffing needs, and district expectations.
Conduct regular observations, provide constructive feedback, document employee performance, and facilitate evaluation conferences to support continuous professional growth and accountability.
Coach and mentor staff members to strengthen instructional practices, leadership capacity, and professional effectiveness while supporting the attainment of individual and campus improvement goals.
Collaborate with campus-level planning and decision-making committees to identify professional development needs and implement meaningful learning opportunities aligned with district and campus priorities.
Foster a culture of professionalism, collaboration, continuous improvement, and high performance among all campus staff.
School or Community Relations

Clearly articulate and promote the school's mission, vision, goals, and accomplishments to students, staff, parents, and the broader community.
Build and maintain strong relationships with families, community organizations, business partners, and stakeholders to encourage engagement and support for campus initiatives.
Demonstrate responsiveness to school and community needs by initiating programs, activities, and partnerships that enhance student success and strengthen community involvement.
Utilize effective communication strategies to promote positive public relations and encourage meaningful parent and community participation in the educational process.
Other

Follow all district safety procedures, emergency management protocols, and crisis response plans to ensure the safety and security of students, staff, and visitors.
Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the superintendent or designee in support of district and campus operations.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise, evaluate, and provide recommendations regarding the hiring, reassignment, retention, professional development, contract renewal, and separation of staff assigned to the campus, including assistant principal(s), teachers, counselor(s), librarian(s), instructional aides, administrative assistants, office support staff, and custodial personnel.

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including personal computer, peripherals, and other instructional and communication technology.
Posture: Frequent standing, walking, and sitting; occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, pushing, and pulling.
Motion: Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of computer peripherals, and occasional reaching.
Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may be required to physically restrain students in accordance with district policy and approved training procedures.
Environment: May require prolonged or irregular work hours; work conducted indoors and outdoors with exposure to varying weather conditions, heat, cold, noise, and other environmental factors; occasional districtwide and statewide travel may be required.
Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control and sound judgment under stress; work effectively in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions, competing priorities, and multiple deadlines.
Salary Range: Salary: LG ISD Administration Pay Grade 7
Days: 210 duty days (paid on a 230-day schedule)
