| Description/Notes: | The Algebra I Teacher is responsible for providing students with rigorous, standards-aligned learning experiences in mathematics. The teacher will support students in developing algebraic reasoning, problem-solving skills, mathematical fluency, and the ability to apply mathematical concepts to real-world situations. This position will focus on effective instruction in Algebra I, including linear equations, inequalities, functions, systems of equations, polynomials, quadratics, data analysis, and mathematical modeling. The teacher will use student data to plan instruction, monitor progress, close achievement gaps, and support district goals related to student achievement, STAAR/EOC performance, and college and career readiness. | Qualifications: | Education/Certification and Experience Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university. Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for mathematics at the secondary level, or related training and work experience for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan. Demonstrated competency in mathematics. Student teaching, approved internship, or related work experience preferred. Experience with Algebra I instruction, STAAR/EOC preparation, and data-driven instructional planning preferred. Special Knowledge/Skills Knowledge of Algebra I Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills. Knowledge of STAAR/EOC expectations, instructional standards, and assessment practices. Ability to design and deliver effective mathematics instruction. Ability to analyze student data and adjust instruction to improve student outcomes. Knowledge of curriculum, lesson planning, instructional strategies, and differentiated instruction. Ability to support students in algebraic reasoning, problem solving, mathematical modeling, graphing, functions, and data analysis. Ability to instruct students and manage student behavior effectively. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to collaborate with campus teams, department staff, instructional coaches, administrators, and families. |
