| Description/Notes: | PRIMARY PURPOSE: To direct the district’s special education program to ensure the provision of needed services for special needs students. Work to provide individualized programs to meet the needs of all special needs students and ensure compliance with all state, federal, and local requirements. The Executive Director of Special Education is expected to model and promote a high standard of customer service, ensuring that all interactions with students, families, staff, and the community reflect professionalism, responsiveness, empathy, and a commitment to building meaningful and trusting relationships. In alignment with the district’s mission and values, the Executive Director fosters a culture that prioritizes students first, inspires success through collaboration and student-centered support, and empowers all stakeholders through clear communication, integrity, advocacy, and a relentless focus on continuous improvement and high expectations for all students. |
| Qualifications: | Education / Certification: -Master’s degree -Texas mid-management or supervisory certification (preferred) -Educational Diagnostician, or equivalent, certification (preferred) -Valid Texas teaching certificate with special education endorsement Special Knowledge and Skills: -Knowledge of federal and state special education law -Understanding of the individual needs of special needs students -Ability to communicate with all levels of special needs students and their parents -Ability to implement policy and procedures -Ability to interpret data -Ability to manage budget and personnel -Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Experience: -Five years of teaching experience in special education -Practical experience in special education planning, implementation, and evaluation |
