Description/Notes: Major duties and responsibilities:
1. Lead development and refinement of 6-12 ELAR curriculum documents aligned to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills and College Board standards.
2. Implement procedures to support and aid with facilitation of the district’s reading program.

3. Develop and conduct or arrange for staff development sessions, including sessions on delivery of instruction and enriched learning in classroom settings.

4. Conduct a continuing evaluation of the reading program and implement changes based on the findings.

5. Mentor and provide ongoing support for instructional coaches and teachers.
6. Observe teachers and provide feedback designed to improve instruction

7. Collaborate with administrators, instructional coaches, teachers, and other relevant individuals regarding reading initiatives.
8. Facilitate, write, edit and help produce District curriculum documents in the area of 6-12 English Language Arts and Reading

9. Facilitate, write, edit, and help produce District assessments

10. Provide input and guidance on the purchasing of instructional materials and supplemental resources relevant to assigned content area.

11. Demonstrate an interest in acquiring new skills and knowledge while staying current in research and evaluation.

12. Maintain knowledge of the district’s curriculum and instructional programs, scope and sequence and campus improvement plan.

13. Provide leadership, guidance, and support to ensure equitable access to and successful implementation of advanced academic opportunities, including Pre-AP, AP, and dual credit programs

14. Work collaboratively with teachers and campus leaders to strengthen instructional rigor, align curriculum, and build systems that prepare and support students for success in advanced coursework.

2. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Daily attendance and punctuality at campus/department are essential functions of the job.

Qualifications: Qualifications/ Experience:
Master’s degree from accredited university with a focus in reading (preferred)
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for reading
5 years teaching experience in a secondary classroom setting

Demonstrated competency in English Language Arts and Reading
Expertise in the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of curriculum
Understanding of current research and ability to model effective instructional strategies
Skilled in analyzing and interpreting data to inform instruction and intervention
Strong analytical, organizational, communication, interpersonal, and technology skills
Ability to organize and coordinate district-wide 6-12 ELAR programming
Ability to evaluate instruction programs and teaching effectiveness
Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
Salary Range: $78,027-$112,123
