Campus Description: Primary Purpose:<br /> <br /> Performs supervisory and administrative tasks in developing, implementing, and managing programs designed to effectively address security and school safety needs. Responsible for coordinating a comprehensive school safety program, which includes working with local law enforcement agencies to monitor and coordinate the school resource officer program. Works extensively with the cabinet, school administrators, and community on all areas of school safety. Work also involves implementing training programs pertaining to matters of safety and security for site-based administrators and helps to develop and monitor the school safety area of the school improvement plans.<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Qualifications:<br /> <br /> Education/Certification:<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Master’s degree in education, Public or Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Sociology, or another related field,<br /> <br /> Texas Principal Certification or other appropriate Texas certification, preferred.<br /> <br /> Clear and valid Texas driver’s license<br /> <br /> Assist campus administrators with fair and consistent administration of discipline policies and discretionary disciplinary alternative education program (DAEP) placements.<br /> <br /> Special Knowledge/Skills:<br /> <br /> Experience:<br /> <br /> School administration.<br /> <br /> Work with campus administrators to recognize attendance trends and concerns.<br /> <br /> Ensure timely notification to parents regarding concerns with student attendance.<br /> <br /> Support campus administrators and parents in following truancy laws.<br /> <br /> Develop and present training to campus administrators regarding student discipline and Texas Education Code Chapter 37.<br /> <br /> Conduct thorough, impartial investigations.<br /> <br /> Address parent concerns related to discipline and campus administrative decisions.<br /> <br /> Monitor discipline trends and work with campus administrators to develop campus discipline improvement plans to address student needs in the areas of attendance and discipline.<br /> <br /> Knowledge of law enforcement policies and procedures, crime prevention, investigations, public safety training, life safety programs, and operations<br /> <br /> Ability to train, plan, and implement the Incident Command System<br /> <br /> Ability to understand the key roles associated with the Incident Command System<br /> <br /> Ability to relate to a wide variety of people and to observe, listen, motivate, and provide leadership.<br /> <br /> results in the best environment<br /> <br /> Strong decision-making ability, budget a K-12 school environment.<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Major Responsibilities and Duties:<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Safety<br /> <br /> Plan, develop, recommend, implement, and valuate policies, procedures, and programs related to safety practices at school.<br /> Develop adequate and relevant in-service training programs for security and school personnel that supports policy enforcement, fire safety, accident prevention in the public-school environment and support other relevant in-services and training programs.<br /> Work with District staff to provide leadership and program, management oversight of capital efforts to quip schools with assets necessary to ensure the safety of school communities.<br /> Serve as a central resource internal and externally in response to security, safety concerns or questions.<br /> Conducts planning and research activities relating to all aspects of public safety in a public school system environment.<br /> Provide security training for all levels and departments.<br /> Effectively evaluate the performance of security and safety personnel.<br /> <br /> <br /> Administration<br /> <br /> Set overall strategic direction of the department and develop/implement long range goals and objectives.<br /> Monitor the implementation of the district’s school safety plan program to comply with State of Texas standards.<br /> Make data –based decisions about how to organize and strategically align department and District resources to maximize safety of students, staff, and the school communities.<br /> Develop and continuously improve policies and protocols to support emergency response and a safe school climate.<br /> Continuously evaluate department performance relative to strategic goals and objectives and report regularly on progress to learning communities, the Superintendent, and other key stakeholders<br /> Lead and evaluate all safety and security department activities and initiatives.<br /> Develop and administer the budget for the department.<br /> Ensure compliance to Local, State, and Federal mandates relative to school safety programs related to safety practices in schools and system facilities.<br /> Provide leadership during critical incidents.<br /> Recruit and select skilled and capable safety personnel: collaborate with school administrators in the evaluation and effective deployment of resources.<br /> Attendance/Truancy protocols.<br /> Communication<br /> <br /> Collaborate with internal and external personnel in planning a standardized response to critical incidents.<br /> Provide leadership for the development of educational programs for students and staff in the interest of crime, accident and fire prevention.<br /> Interact and develop collaborative relationships with local and state law and safety agencies.<br /> Proactively engage school communities in developing safety priorities, defining roles and responsibilities, building capability, and creating systems of accountability to ensure a safe and effective school climate.<br /> <br /> <br /> Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:<br /> <br /> Tools/Equipment Used: District vehicle, firearms, handcuffs, alarm system, security equipment, two-way radio, fire extinguisher and standard office equipment including computer and peripherals.<br /> <br /> Posture: Prolonged standing and standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting<br /> <br /> Motion: Frequent walking<br /> <br /> Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying<br /> <br /> Environment: Work inside and outside (moderate exposure to sun, heat, cold and inclement weather), frequent district-wide travel.<br /> <br /> Other: Specific hearing and visual requirements. May be subject to adverse and hazardous working conditions, including violent and armed confrontations. Ability to control sudden violent or extreme physical acts of others and exhibit rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously.<br /> <br /> Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress, prolonged hours; on call 24 hours a day.
