Description/Notes: Primary Purpose:
Guide the district’s energy and sustainability strategy to deliver measurable improvements in cost efficiency, operational performance, and environmental stewardship. Plan, implement, and monitor initiatives that reduce utility costs, improve energy efficiency, expand renewable energy use, and support the district’s long-term financial and sustainability goals.

Major Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement the district’s energy management and sustainability program as it relates to utility management, resource conservation, renewable energy, waste and recycling, building improvements, remodeling, and new construction.
2. Pursue an aggressive program to reduce district consumption and waste; perform cost and benefit analyses and recommend projects and upgrades.
3. Develop and execute a district-wide energy and sustainability plan with clear annual savings targets and performance metrics.
4. Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to track energy intensity, carbon footprint, and cost avoidance.
5. Propose utility management, conservation, renewable energy, and waste reduction initiatives that directly lower operating costs.
6. Conduct energy and water audits at facilities; recommend efficiency upgrades with quantified return on investment (ROI).
7. Prepare and manage annual budgets for utilities and energy projects, ensuring alignment with district cost-reduction goals.
8. Utilize advanced analytics and energy management software to monitor performance, identify trends, and verify savings.
9. Produce quarterly and annual reports detailing financial impacts and efficiency improvements.
10. Support energy-related capital projects, from feasibility through implementation and post-project measurement and verification.
11. Develop and evaluate RFPs/RFQs; negotiate energy purchase agreements to secure cost-competitive rates.
12. Pursue rebates, grants, and external funding to maximize project value and minimize district expenditure.
13. Build partnerships with utilities, vendors, and community organizations to support innovation and shared learning.
14. Design staff and student engagement programs that promote conservation behaviors and sustainability awareness.
15. Provide training and regular updates to campuses and departments on energy performance and conservation practices.
16. Ensure adherence to federal/state laws and local board policies on energy conservation and sustainability.
17. Stay current with industry best practices, regulatory developments, and emerging technologies.
18. Implement the policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rules, and local board policy in the area of energy conservation and sustainability.
19. Follow Educator Code of Conduct and all policies, procedures, laws and State/Federal regulations.
20. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications (Experience/Education/Certification):
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in energy management or a related field. Eight years or more of relevant field and supervisory experience may be considered in lieu of a four-year college or university degree. Professional certifications such as CEM (Certified Energy Manager) preferred.
Salary Range: $80,081-$108,344
