Description/Notes: Leakey ISD seeks a dynamic, results-oriented Secondary Principal to provide instructional leadership for grades 6-12. The ideal candidate will establish and maintain a structured, disciplined educational environment where both students and staff are held to high standards of performance and conduct. This leader will foster a culture of accountability, respect, and academic excellence while ensuring compliance with district policies, state requirements, and educational best practices.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

School Culture & Discipline Management

Implement and consistently enforce a clear, fair, and structured discipline management system

Establish high behavioral expectations and hold students accountable through appropriate, consistent consequences

Maintain visibility throughout the campus, actively monitoring student behavior and intervening when necessary

Develop and enforce a comprehensive student code of conduct that promotes responsibility and respect

Regularly analyze discipline data to identify trends and implement targeted interventions
Conduct parent conferences regarding serious disciplinary matters and develop behavior intervention plans when needed

Create a safe, orderly school environment conducive to effective teaching and learning

Staff Leadership & Accountability

Hold teachers and staff accountable for professional conduct, instructional effectiveness, and adherence to district policies

Conduct regular classroom observations and provide specific, actionable feedback

Implement rigorous teacher evaluation processes that emphasize growth and accountability

Address teacher performance issues promptly and directly, providing clear improvement plans

Monitor lesson plans, grading practices, and classroom management strategies

Ensure equitable enforcement of policies across all classrooms

Foster a professional environment where staff hold themselves and each other to high standards

Support teachers in maintaining classroom discipline while holding them accountable for effective management

Instructional Leadership

Monitor student academic progress and hold teachers accountable for student achievement

Analyze assessment data to identify areas for improvement and implement targeted interventions

Ensure curriculum alignment with state standards and district expectations

Lead data-driven instructional planning and decision-making

Hold regular staff meetings focused on instructional improvement and student outcomes

Maintain high academic expectations for all students

Implement effective RTI processes and ensure appropriate accommodations for special populations

Administrative Duties

Supervise and evaluate all secondary campus personnel

Manage campus budget and resources effectively

Oversee master scheduling, course offerings, and staff assignments

Ensure compliance with all district, state, and federal policies and regulations

Coordinate campus security and emergency management procedures

Maintain accurate student records and reporting systems

Facilitate effective communication between school, home, and community
Qualifications: Master's degree in Educational Administration or related field

Valid Texas Principal Certification

Minimum of four (4) years successful classroom teaching experience

Demonstrated success in instructional leadership roles

Proven track record of implementing effective student discipline systems

Experience in staff supervision and evaluation

Strong knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience as a campus administrator (Assistant Principal or Principal)

Background in secondary education (grades 6-12)

Demonstrated success in improving school culture and student behavior

Experience in rural school settings

Knowledge of Texas accountability systems

Track record of improving academic outcomes

Experience with teacher coaching and development
Salary Range: Negotiable to a point based on qualifications and experience
