Description/Notes: The Director of Special Programs is responsible for the direction and management of the Special Education, 504, Dyslexia, and Student Health programs.

Responsibilities:
- Ensure student progress is evaluated on a systematic basis, and that the findings are used to make Special Education/504/Dyslexia programs more effective
- Supervise and monitor the admission, review, and dismissal (ARD)/ Section 504 process districtwide
- Supervise transition services for special education/504 students entering and exiting public school programs
- Keep Legal Framework in compliance with TEA standards, Accountability and RDA
- Assists with recruitment and retention of personnel, and makes sound recommendations relative to placement, assignment, retention, discipline, and dismissal of staff
- Compile budgets and cost estimates based on documented program needs
- Maintain a current inventory of supplies and equipment and recommend the replacement and disposal of equipment when necessary
- Compiles and administers State and federal grant budgets based on program needs and program requirements
- Oversees and manages Student Health & Nursing Program
- Serve as district liaison to outside agencies and firms
- Provide update reports on Special Program related issues to the Board of Directors
- Reports to Assistant Superintendent of Student Services
Qualifications: - Master's Degree or higher in related educational field/s
- Valid Texas teaching certificate in relate field/s
- Experience working at the district office level
- Experience working as a cohesive member of the Superintendent's Cabinet
- Excellent communication skills (verbal & writing)
- Experience in the management and supervision of a Special Education Program
- Experience in the management of Special Program budgets
- Experience in applying local, state, and federal regulations related to students with disabilities
- Strong knowledge and/or experience building and implementing plans to improve Special Education Program delivery, instruction, and oversight
- Experience supervising and evaluating Special Education Staff
- Knowledge and/or experience with Special Education audits
- Knowledge and/or experience managing 504 Programs
- Knowledge and/or experience managing Dyslexia Programs
- Knowledge and/or experience managing Behavior Management Program
- Knowledge of Results Driven Accountability (RDA) and how to put implementation plans in place
- Strong organizational skills
Salary Range: Negotiable as per the Bandera ISD Administrative Pay Schedule
Benefits: Bandera ISD contributes $350.00 per month towards the employee's TRS Health Insurance
