Description/Notes: Primary Purpose:



Create and monitor prompt and accurate accounting records of all financial transactions for the district. Performs advanced accounting work relating to the preparation, administration, and control of the district’s financial resources within stated regulations and established guidelines.



Education/Certification:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or finance-related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience and experience in a public school setting



Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of governmental accounting and auditing principles established by the Governmental Accounting System Board (GASB)
Ability to analyze and interpret financial or accounting data, develop data, and recommend improved procedures
Knowledge of computerized accounting systems and ability to use computerized systems to develop complex accounting reports, spreadsheets, and databases
Ability to work with numbers in an accurate and rapid manner
Ability to communicate effectively

Experience:

At least three (3) years of accounting or related experience in a public school setting


Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Assist with preparing and maintaining the district's budget including communicating with department heads, coordinating loading of data, keying of budget data
Approve budget amendments and budget transfers, as needed, and prepare budget amendments for management and/or Board approval
Develop and train district and department staff on budget and accounting guidelines and procedures
Serve as liaison between all budget supervisors in the identification, corrections, developing and monitoring of district budgets; resolve budget related problems and issues
Maintain subsidiary accounts and all general ledger transactions by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions daily for accuracy; make corrections as needed and inform supervisors of problems
Prepare and verify all financial Public Information Management (PEIMS) data.
Prepare audit schedules and financial statements according to federal, state, and GASB standards.
Records and Reports
Prepare and distribute campus, department, and bond construction budget information as needed and at designated times.
Prepare periodic budget report for board of trustees.
Record, store, and analyze information using accounting software.
Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required, including auditable records and financial statements.

Keep informed of and comply with state, district policies and regulations concerning primary job functions.
Maintain confidentiality.
Dependable performance requires reliable and dependable attendance.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or other administrator that are consistent with the general requirements and qualifications for the position.

Salary Range: $63,994.16-$90,657.64
