Description/Notes: District and Community Information
Queen City is located in the Northeast corner of Texas, 20 miles from Texarkana, 60 miles from Shreveport and 60 miles from Longview. We are surrounded by lots of pine trees, rivers and lakes. We serve 866 students, with 181 employees. Our slogan is "Where Community is Family".

Queen City ISD has consistently provided a high-quality education to its students offering a platform of electives geared to serving the diverse interests of our children. Recognizing not all our students will pursue a four-year degree, the district has broadened the CTE programs to increase the opportunity for industry certifications. The District also provides a focused effort in preparing students for college in a partnership with nearby Texarkana College to offer numerous dual credit options.

The tenure of the staff is a reflection of their commitment to Queen City ISD. Over 30% of the employees have greater than twenty years of service. This experience provides a grounded approach to education and offers mentorship to our new teachers as well. Queen City ISD compensation schedule includes above-base incentives, academic stipends, a retention bonus, a large match for employee insurance, various other benefits, and most of all, support from the administration, board, and community.

The District received a large sum of Safety Grant monies in 2024-2025, which will allow our building and learning spaces to meet legislative requirements and maintain a high degree of visibility and campus monitoring. The Board has been conservative with budgeting over the last few years due to the lack of increase in State funding. This approach has allowed us to navigate through this tight financial time, while still serving the needs of our children.
Qualifications: Qualifications: The district seeks a candidate who has:
• A valid Superintendent Certificate from Texas or another state.
• At least five years’ classroom teaching experience preferred and a successful tenure as a campus-level principal and/or central office administrator. K-12 experience is desired, but not required.
