Description/Notes: PRIMARY PURPOSE: Responsible for overseeing and aligning critical district administrative functions, processes and special projects that engage multiple divisions under direction of the Superintendent. Provides leadership and direction to all schools in the District to ensure alignment and attainment of the strategic plan objectives and goals. Serves as the acting chief administrator at the request of or in the absence of the Superintendent.
Qualifications: QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
• Master’s Degree
• Doctorate, preferred
• Valid Mid-Management certification or equivalent
• Superintendent certification, preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
• Knowledge of the District’s organization, operations, policies, goals, and objectives
• Knowledge of the State accountability system and standardized testing
• Ability to interpret policy, procedures and data
• Demonstrated ability to manage stakeholders (internal and external) and relationships
• Demonstrated experience in implementing and using data collection, centralization, and analysis to manage performance
• Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
Five (5) years experience in instructional leadership and supervision roles, including successful principalship
Five (5) years experience of successful central office leadership experience
Demonstrated success as a campus administrator or related experience

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1. Assists the Superintendent with the day-to-day operations of the school district.
2. Works collaboratively with others in developing Waco ISD’s district goals, and articulates a vision for the district’s program.
3. Annually updates, maintains, and communicates the district’s Administrative Regulations.
4. Coordinate the development and adoption of Board Policy.
5. Publishes bi-monthly newsletter to ensure clear communication among district leaders.
6. Oversees the development of monthly administrative meetings with campus administrators.
7. Develops annual orientation for administrators new to the district.
8. Leads the district wide decision-making committee and guides principals in the site-based decision-making process.
9. Develops annual leadership retreat for district administrators.
10. Serve as hearing officer for Level II complaints as needed.
11. Represents the Superintendent at community and special district events.
12. Drafts and prepares policies, procedures, and regulations as directed by the Superintendent.
13. Ensures the collection, preparation, and maintenance of complete and accurate records as required by administrative regulation, district policy, state, and federal agencies.
14. Serves as a member of various community and education advisory committees and boards.
15. Communicates to the Superintendent the requirements and needs of the district as perceived by community members, parents, students, and staff.
16. Completes special projects as assigned by the Superintendent.
17. Serves as the senior district administrator in the superintendent’s absence.
18. Supports the development of agendas and related materials for board meetings.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Maintain emotional control under stress, and work with frequent interruptions. Some districtwide and statewide travel. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
The Deputy Superintendent will supervise and appraise other administrators and/or programs, as assigned.


Salary Range: $144,898 - $200,096
