Description/Notes: | Primary Purpose: The Health Science Technology teacher is responsible for developing and implementing high-quality instruction to assist in the development and success of students in the Abilene ISD Health Science program. The teacher should enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in related industries. |
Qualifications: | Qualifications: Education/Certification: • Hold an associate or more advanced degree from an institution of higher learning accredited or approved by an accrediting agency recognized by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB). • Hold current licensure, certification, or registration by a nationally recognized accrediting agency as a health professions practitioner. • Two years of full-time wage-earning work experience as a health professions practitioner in a field that is nationally recognized by an accrediting agency. The required work experience must be approved by a certification officer of an approved educator preparation program. (Statement of Qualifications form [PDF, 305.40 KB]) • Complete an approved Texas Educator Preparation Program • Pass current certification exams. Contact your program for exam approval. • May qualify with related training and work experience for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan (DOI). Special Knowledge/Skills: • Knowledge of career and technical education subject assigned • General knowledge of curriculum and instruction • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior • Ability to oversee student field experiences in career area assigned • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, and interpersonal skills. Salary Range: | Wage/Hour Status: Exempt Pay Grade: Teacher, Librarians, & Nurses (RN) Salary Plan Master's Degree: Additional $1,000 annual stipend |
