Campus Description: Bandera High School and Bandera High School are located in Bandera, Texas in the beautiful Texas Hill Country. Bandera is located less than 30 minutes Northwest of San Antonio, Texas and is commonly known as the Cowboy Capital of the World. Bandera is a wonderful community rich in Texas cowboy culture and country western music, and you can even see horses tied up to the hitching posts downtown.<br /> <br /> Bandera ISD is a 4A district where Pride, Integrity, a love of small town life, and student choice can still be found.<br /> <br /> Bandera High School has a projected enrollment of 700+ students for the 2022-23 school year.

Description/Notes: Bandera High School is seeking a knowledgeable, energetic and fun Culinary Arts Teacher to join the BHS Family.

The position will be starting the beginning of the second semester (January 3, 2023), with established students in the program training to become chefs and food service professionals.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university
- Texas Teaching License and appropriate endorsements for the grade levels and subjects taught

Expectations:
- TheCulinary Arts teacher should be knowledgeable about relevant culinary arts trends, techniques and professional practices
- The Culinary Arts teachershould be a strong communicator to share relevant, real-world experiences with students
-The Culinary Arts teacher is responsible for developing and teaching lessons that follow the approved curriculum. Instruction should be relevant and meaningful, centering around a "centers-based" learning environment in which students may both observe and gain hands-on experience.
-The Culinary Arts teacher will maintain a safe learning environment where students are participating in a learning partnership that incorporates respect, cooperation, and active participation
-The Culinary Arts teacher will stay updated on professional opportunities for students and prepare them for employment upon graduation
- The Culinary Arts teacher will work cohesively with the BISD Career and Technology Coordinator, Campus Counselors, Campus PEIMS/Student Information Systems, and Chief Officers to consistently and accurately track student industry based pathways and certifications

Duties:
- Continuous supervision and monitoring ofstudents in theclassroom and kitchen lab environment
- Work closely with the Career and Technology Department staff to continually build and grow career pathways for students
- Team planning with colleagues to ensure high quality instruction and assessment
-Develop, modify and prepare, and assess curricula to ensure high quality instruction based upon student abilities and skill levels
- Provide classroom instruction to whole groups, small groups, and individuals
- Correctly and consistently assessstudents and be able to adjust instruction to ensure student growth
- Correctly and consistently record student grades as per the BISD grading policy
- Correctly and consistently record classroom/period attendance
-Demonstrate the effective use of technology to enhance instruction and support student interest and growth
- Design assessment tasks that allow students to demonstrate a hands-on understanding in a variety of ways
- Collect and analyze student data to drive instruction
- Collaborate with students, parents, and other members of staff, and provide meaningful feedback
- Communicate necessary information and student progress regularly to students, colleagues, and parents
- Work cohesively with the campus staff in a fast-paced high school atmosphere
- Work cooperatively with Special Education teachers to modify curricula, instruct, and assess Special Education students in the regular classroom
- Participate in campus and district Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to increase teacher effectiveness and broaden student horizons
- Participate in staff development activities and improve job-related skills
- Participate on campus/district committees to enhance and support the school district vision and goals
Salary Range: Commensurate with experience based upon the 2022-23 Bandera ISD Pay Scale
Benefits: The district contributes $300 per month to the employee's TRS ActiveCare Health Insurance.
