| Description/Notes: | JG Consulting has engaged with the San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District (SMCISD) to recruit candidates to serve as the Executive Director of Equity and Inclusion. The Executive Director of Equity and Inclusion should be a visionary and transformational leader who serves as a catalyst to promote a culture of inclusion where individuals from all backgrounds can thrive and be engaged with greater access to effective teachers, principals and other school leaders. The leader will also support the district as a learning organization to improve the overall quality of instruction and ensure equity of educational equity policy and leading efforts to conceptualize, define, assess, foster and cultivate equity, diversity and inclusion throughout the district. SMCISD serves approximately 8,100 students with many curricular options to support every scholar including 13 career pathways. | Qualifications: | Minimum Education/Certification: - Requires a minimum of a Masters Degree in social work, psychology, business, education or related field. - Minimum 5 years experience advocating for and implementing change within a multicultural environment. - Minimum 3 years experience developing and implementing diversity/equity/inclusion programs. - Demonstrated understanding of cultural values and norms of various communities, particularly of communities of color, LGBTQ+ and Recovery communities. - Sensitivity and understanding of specific barriers which may lead to lack of access and engagement. - Valid Texas teaching certificate (required) - Mid-management or Principal certification (required) Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of issues and trends related to education equity; diversity and inclusion best practices; leadership and managerial principles; strategy development; local, state and federal related regulations; conflict resolution and mediation and training methods. Skill in leading and responding to district issues relating to diversity, equity and inclusion; organization; public relations; oral and written communications; cultural competency; working with diverse student and staff background; managing change; dealing with sensitive topics; and problem solving. Ability to understand, be sensitive to and respect the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds of students and staff; communicate San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District effectively; manage multiple priorities and projects; diffuse anger and establish or restore harmony; maintain professional demeanor during emotionally charged, difficult or high pressure situations and to use computer and application software. |
