Campus Description: The Director of Family & Community Services provides coordination, consultation, guidance, and assistance to schools in working with parents and families to support their children. Assists schools in addressing the needs of culturally and/or linguistically diverse students and families. Formulates methods and procedures for effectively involving the home, school, and community influencing the progress and achievement of students. Empowers parents to become active partners in the education of their children. Enhances school/parent communication, increasing opportunities for parents and guardians to participate as partners with the school in the academic and social growth of their children. Organizes activities to increase parent engagement.

Description/Notes: 1. Serve as liaison between school and home, establish trusting relationships and welcoming environment, and serve as a point of contact for families.
2. Work directly with the campus principal to support parent outreach efforts that will impact student achievement; assist with Title I, Part A Parental Involvement requirements.
3. Assist parents and guardians to navigate the school system, assisting with awareness of available campus, district, and community social services and their attainment.
4. Work with bilingual parents, guardians, and staff to ensure use of interpreter services as available for parent-teacher conferences, school meetings, and activities.
5. Prepare outreach materials for distribution in language(s) of parents and guardians; ensure multilingual signs, bulletin boards, and other displays are visible at school entrance/lobby to welcome all parents and provide information.
6. Conduct outreach activities, surveys, and coordinate parent involvement opportunities.
7. Perform home visits as needed
8. Maintain confidentiality of student, parent, and employee information
9. Organize and support wrap around services for the following students and families: pregnant and parenting students, students in foster care, homeless students
10. Coordinate community outreach and parent engagement opportunities, including but not limited to the Latino Literacy Project, the Literacy Bus, Adopt-A-Classroom
11. Develop and implement a community mentoring program to support at-risk students
12. Coordinate with community partners and educational partners to continue building an adult education program for parents and community members in TISD boundaries
13. Serve as liaison between Terrell ISD and Communities in Schools and the ACE After School Program
14. Serve as liaison between Terrell ISD and other community organizations and non-profit partners to better Terrell ISD, provide opportunities for students and families, and to continue growth of the community
15. Coordinate Caregiver University, a parent outreach program.
16. Coordinate parent/community volunteers
17. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.
18. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents as required.
19. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
20. Other duties as assigned

Maintain emotional control under stress. Strenuous walking, standing, and climbing; ability to operate a motor vehicle; specific hearing and visual requirements; ability to control sudden violent or extreme physical acts of others and exhibit rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously. May be subject to adverse and hazardous working conditions including violent and armed confrontations. Work outdoors in varying climate conditions; drive in all different areas of district at odd hours; on call 24 hours a day.

Education Certification:
Masters Degree
SBEC Certification as a teacher, administrator, or other professional certification

Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of campus instructional operations and school community demographics
Ability to serve a culturally diverse community of students, parents, and community members
Ability to interpret data
Knowledge of Social Emotional Learning
Ability to interact effectively with and provide guidance to staff, students, parents and community members Skill at negotiating and consensus building to support administrative decisions and programs
Experience in community based work, e.g. community development, social work, etc.
Strong organizational, communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
Spanish speaker preferred

Experience:
At least eight (8) years prior experience in a school/community environment
Experience as a teacher leader, social worker or administrator on a public school campus or in a Central Office position with administrative experience preferred
Successful experience in the areas of community engagement and conflict resolution
Salary Range: According to TISD Salary Schedule
