Description/Notes: | MISSION: The Texas Education Agency (TEA) will improve outcomes for all public-school students in the state by providing leadership, guidance, and support to school systems. This position is funded through September 30, 2023, with federal stimulus funds. Continuation of the position beyond that date is contingent upon available funding. This federally funded position will provide critical support for the agency to urgently address student learning loss due to the COVID-19 pandemic. POSITION OVERVIEW: The Safe and Supportive Schools Program (SSSP) Specialist will support districts and schools across Texas to implement the SSSP Framework aimed at ensuring all students are psychologically and physically safe and have the supports necessary to ensure they are ready to learn. SSSP is a set of legislative requirements, initiatives, and resources aligned with the existing Effective Schools Framework and the Effective District Framework (under development). The Specialist will help execute the vision around comprehensive supports for districts and educators regarding SSSP and universal supports aligned to multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS), including the creation or cultivation of guidance, training, resources, and supports. The Specialist will also project and performance manage multiple external vendors, partner organizations, and technical assistance providers to support this work. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Develops and implements effective processes and techniques for vetting and approving high-quality statewide training and support regarding knowledge building and professional learning aligned to the Safe and Supportive Schools Program (SSSP) Framework and evaluating and analyzing the impact of implementation. Manages, coordinates, and tracks contract and grant deliverables for the work of external vendors, technical assistance providers and Education Service Centers to effectively interact and build the capacity of districts and campuses to ensure implementation of SSSP initiatives. Reviews, analyzes, and oversees the work of vendors and external partner organizations who provide technical assistance and resources to LEAs implementing SSSP aligned work Analyzes legislation and oversees data collection and analysis of feedback to develop and implement recommendations to improve processes, procedures, tools, and resources for internal and external use to maximize and leverage support to key stakeholders. Builds and maintains strong relationships with teams across the TEA to foster effective cross-functional communication and collaboration. |
Qualifications: | MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university. Experience: At least three (3) years of experience working in school districts, educations service centers, education nonprofits, education consulting and/or with statewide initiatives specific to ensuring all students are psychologically and physically safe and have the supports necessary to ensure they are ready to learn. Substitutions: An advanced degree may substitute for two years of required experience. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Share the belief that all Texas students can achieve at high levels and are able to succeed in college, career, or the military Track record of success implementing effective district and school level practices in staff and student culture, parent and community engagement, school safety, multi-tiered system of supports, mental health and behavioral support services, and/or instructional leadership Ability to build relationships and strong rapport with others Strong planning and project management skills Experienced in planning, facilitating, and leading change among diverse stakeholder groups Ability to act with purpose that impacts and positively influences the perceptions, thinking, and actions of others Highly organized; ability to manage multiple projects at once and meet deadlines Meticulous attention to detail with an ability to produce high quality work in a dynamic environment Ability to break down complex information into comprehensive parts, ask questions, synthesize and analyze Collaborative and results-oriented, especially within a team environment Excellent written and oral communication skills Comfortable and confident in speaking and presenting to large groups of people Familiarity with evaluating work plans for strengths and areas of risk A desire to self-reflect, give/receive feedback and continuously improve |
Salary Range: | $4598.66 - $6065.75 |
