Primary Purpose:
To assist the Executive Director of Communications in the districts overall communications program through effective, professional communications with internal and external audiences and support the Communications Departments day-to-day functions. Perform and coordinate communications and marketing activities that contribute to the attainment of district goals and objectives.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist with writing, designing, and editing district publications and electronic communications, including:
Newsletters
News releases
Letters to students, staff, parents, and community members
Presentations for meetings and special events
Handbooks, brochures, programs, reports, etc.
Social media channels
Website

Write engaging news and feature stories for publications, news media and community and staff audiences.
Assist in media relations including answering and researching media outlets questions as well as identify opportunities and develop articles for publications.
Photograph district and campus events and activities for a variety of uses.
Assist the Executive Director of Communications with the research, development, and delivery of communication training modules that will aid staff in using efficient and effective communication skills with internal and external audiences.
Provide strategic input; collaborate with appropriate parties, as necessary; plan, create and execute various communication programs.
Assists and coordinates special events/activities and programs as assigned
Frequently attends campus or district events
Maintain a professional level of confidentiality and a professional working relationship with all parties
Projects a professional image
Responsible for completing all other duties as assigned
Recognize his/her vital role in protecting a positive image of NISD and will abide by the Standards for Educational Public Relations Programs, as adopted by the National School Public Relations Association.

Equipment Used:
PC, copier, digital sender, camera, presentation equipment.

Working Conditions:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours. Must have ability to move from one location to another throughout the district. Must have a valid drivers license. Regular and punctual attendance at the workplace and on assignments. Position requires frequent interruptions, prolong use of the computer, keyboarding, bending, stooping, lifting, sitting and ability to lift twenty-five pounds.

Qualifications: Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in journalism, English, communications or related field
Two years of experience in school public relations or related field
Demonstrated skills in journalistic writing, editing, graphic design, social media campaigns, photography, public speaking, and public relations
Working knowledge of Associated Press style and grammar
Working knowledge of the Public Information Act
Experience in print/electronic communications and photo editing
Experience working in online content management systems
Demonstrated skills in Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and MS Office Suite
Thorough knowledge of media relations and public relations functions
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
Self-starter able to manage multiple projects
Willingness to work with others in department and in district on joint projects and initiatives
Ability to manage time and meet multiple deadlines
Salary Range: $60,759 - $85,650 per year
