Description/Notes: Primary Purpose:
Provides direct support to instructional staff on the development and delivery of instructional programs, including implementation of research-based strategies, professional development and professional learning communities that support school improvement. Assists and leads in planning, directing, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating instructional functions that align to the Districts mission and goals. Ensures that content-specific staff have the instructional skills and background knowledge to increase student achievement.

Qualifications

Education/Certification:

Masters degree in education from an accredited college or university
Mid-management or principal certification preferred
Valid teaching certificate


Special Knowledge/Skills:

Extensive knowledge of the Texas TEKS
Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation.
Modeling best practices for instructional planning and professional learning communities.
Demonstrated ability to organize/interpret/analyze data and apply concepts to improve achievement, resolve problems, and develop solutions.
Leadership skills including visioning, active listening, coaching, facilitation, and use of data for decision making.
Knowledge of current educational research and best practices for instruction.
Efficient organizational skills and attention to detail.
Use of district instructional resources/pedagogical methods.
Evaluation of instructional programs and teaching effectiveness.
Experience in working with at-risk students.
Experience conducting professional development that results in improved student achievement.
Coordination of District and campus functions.
Interpretation of policies and procedures.
Technology proficient.
Demonstrated ability to lead District initiatives
Ability to recognize when and how to be directive.
Experience:

5 years of successful educational leadership experience at campus and/or district level.
3-5 years of successful classroom teaching experience.





Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Plan, organize, develop, and implement feedback systems and processes for monitoring and supporting targeted improvement plans.
Value and encourage creativity and initiative in assessing, identifying, formulating, and implementing the Districts academic goals and objectives.
Serve as a resource for high-impact strategies leading to optimal instructional results.
Participate in strategic planning and visioning with all stakeholders and gain buy in and support of vision and goals. Participation includes annual core academic program evaluation, improvement planning and reporting.
Assist with planning, developing, and delivering professional development.
Foster effective teaming and collaboration within the staff and with other instructional departments.
Provide leadership and support to building administrators through collaborative planning, professional development, coaching, school improvement planning and regular communication.
Remain current on educational research by engaging in professional development activities, professional reading, and peer collaboration.
Pursue alternative funding and resources to support programming.
Develop a long-range plan of professional development course of study to further the district vision.
Work closely with campuses and central office departments to develop and implement orientation programs for new teachers and execute the plan.
Provide options for leadership training and ongoing professional development for district administrators.
Secure consultant, specialist, and other community resources to assist principals and instructional staff in attaining objectives.

Pursue professional development to improve skills related to job assignment.
Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with adults.
Remain current in best practices and developing trends in early childhood education; disseminate information to the appropriate personnel.

Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.

Working Conditions
Maintain emotional control under stress. Occasional travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours.
Flexible work calendar that accommodates summer programming.
Works a 226 calendar assignment
