Description/Notes: Primary Purpose:
Facilitate professional learning experiences and provide coaching support for campus dyslexia specialists to assist
students diagnosed with dyslexia or suspected of having dyslexia to help them reach their potential by developing
competencies and skill to function successfully in society. Assist campuses with data analysis and identification of
students considered for additional intervention or further assessment.


Education/Certification:
Bachelors and Masters degree from accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate
Valid ESL Supplemental certificate
Teacher certification with Reading Specialization preferred
Valid EC-12 Special Education certificate preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of special needs of students in assigned area
Knowledge of specific multi-sensory teaching strategies
Knowledge of ARD Committee process and IEP goal setting process and implementation
Knowledge of Section 504 Committee Referral process and the development of individual
accommodation plans
Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Knowledge of the science of reading and screening/assessment best practices
Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness

Preferred Experience:
Minimum of three years of teaching experience in area of assignment
Experience working with students with dyslexia and providing appropriate support
Minimum of three years of district leadership preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Provide training and support for campus specialists/facilitators using the identified district dyslexia program to
meet the needs of individual students K-12
Participate in campus Section 504 Committee meetings and/or ARD Committee meetings as needed
Collaborate with principals, teachers, and parents to coordinate a strong academic program
Serve as a resource to campus MTSS teams seeking information of dyslexia and other reading difficulties
Collaborate with assessment department to gather data and develop evaluation instruments to guide program
improvement and to monitor student progress
Encourage and support development of innovative instructional programs and scheduling to assist
teachers/specialists to pilot such efforts when appropriate
Communicate district curriculum, instructional practices, accomplishments, goals, and new directions to
parents and the community at large to solicit their support
Encourage, organize, and administer subject area competitions
Demonstrate skill in coaching staff and peers
Implement and monitor policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rules, and the
local board policies in the area of specialization
Contribute to the development of budgets by submitting cost estimates based upon documented program
needs
Take the initiative to develop professional skills appropriate to job assignments.
Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible and be a role model for all district staff
and students
Follow all rules, regulations, and policies of Plano ISD and follow directives from supervisor
Follow attendance policy as assigned by supervisor
Perform other functions that may be assigned by the Administration and/or supervisor
