Description/Notes: The Business Systems Manager leads the operational and personnel activities of the Business Systems unit, reporting to the Director of Management Information Services. This position oversees project management, business process review, systems analysis, and end-user application support across the district's financial, human resources, and state reporting (PEIMS) platforms.

The role is ideal for a hands-on technical leader who bridges business operations and software delivery—from developing SQL queries and testing system upgrades to managing vendor statements of work and guiding a team of analysts. This is an opportunity to lead the mission-critical applications that thousands of staff members and 56 campuses rely on every day.

Key Responsibilities:
-Plan, direct, and evaluate software development, implementation, and upgrade projects from original concept through testing and post-launch maintenance.
-Supervise, evaluate, mentor, and support the professional growth of assigned Business Systems personnel.
-Actively develop and execute Structured Query Language (SQL) queries using SQL editors to fulfill complex business, reporting, and data analysis needs.
-Partner closely with Finance, Human Resources, and campus leadership to optimize workflows, translate business needs into technical specifications, and resolve application issues.
-Coordinate and support cyclical business processes, including fiscal year-end, W-2 and 1099 processing, open enrollment, annual budgeting, and payroll job checklists.
-Represent financial and human resource data and system processes during PEIMS submissions and state compliance reporting.
-Draft and review statements of work (SOW), requests for proposals (RFP/RFI), data sharing agreements, and vendor software contracts.
-Prepare and monitor the department's annual operating budget and maintain comprehensive operational checklists and project documentation.
Qualifications: -Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
-Four (4) years of related experience in business systems analysis, software project management, or enterprise application support, including at least one (1) year in a supervisory or leadership capacity (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
-Strong proficiency in database concepts and writing/editing SQL queries using SQL tools.
-Demonstrated experience managing software implementation lifecycles, user acceptance testing (UAT), and vendor relations.
-Prior experience supporting K–12 enterprise ERP systems (such as Tyler Munis), HR/financial platforms, and Texas PEIMS reporting is highly preferred.
Salary Range: $91,249.76-$109,939.96
Benefits: -Leadership & Operational Impact: Steer the enterprise platforms and data infrastructure that support 47,000+ students and over 6,000 employees.
-Collaborative Scope: Partner directly with senior leadership across Technology, Finance, HR, and campus operations in a solutions-oriented environment.
-Professional Growth: Gain exposure to enterprise technology initiatives, continuous system modernizations, and regional/state educational technology networks.
-Total Package: Competitive administrative compensation, participation in the Texas Teacher Retirement System (TRS), and comprehensive health and wellness benefits.
