Description/Notes: Job Title: Positive Approach to Student Success (P.A.S.S.) Teacher
Reports to: School Administrator

Primary Purpose:
Work with students to implement BIP/IEP. Provide intervention, consultation, and training to
general education and special education staff in meeting the educational needs of students with
emotional and/or behavioral issues and social skills deficits.

Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree in related field
Special Education Certification Required
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to work with school staff and parents
Experience in working with students with emotional/behavioral problems
Knowledge of state and federal special education laws
Excellent written and communication skills
Experience: Three years experience working with students with emotional and/or behavioral
issues

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Assist teachers in the development and implementation of behavioral strategies and the
collection of data in the evaluation of student progress.
2. Collaborate with campus staff and other behavior staff to provide on-going training for
special education and general education staff in effective behavior management
strategies and positive behavior supports.
4. Model effective social skills and behavioral strategies or conduct demonstration lessons
for specific students as specified in individual IEP’s and/or intervention plans.
5. Promote the inclusion of students with behavior problems through providing assistance
with district curriculum and supplemental instructional materials for special education in
the general education setting.
6. Assist teachers in programming for students with emotional disturbance and moderate
to severe behavioral problems.
7. Assist in developing documents designed to maintain and document student progress.
8. Attend staffing and ARDs when appropriate to assist with the development and/or
evaluation of individual educational plans.
10. Assist teachers in the development and implementation of individual Behavior
Intervention Plans.
11. Coordinate with evaluation staff in planning and programming for students.
12. Mentor new teachers responsible for educating students with emotional disturbance
and moderate to severe behavioral problems in the understanding of teaching strategies
and behavior programs/interventions.
13. Plan campus Non-Violent Crisis Prevention Intervention training.
14. Provide individual or group training to parents on effective behavior management
strategies and data collection as specified in individual IEPs.

Supervisory
Responsibilities: None.

Equipment Used: Computer, printer, copier, overhead projector, DVD/VCR, and other emerging technologies which are particularly unique to the assignment. Instructional and productivity software, as required by the assignment.

Ability to see, hear, talk, stand, sit, walk, stoop, push and pull. Maintain emotional control under stress. Varied stressful interpersonal situations and crisis management. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours. Moderate lifting and carrying of 15-44 pounds. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom or adaptive equipment. Prolonged use of a computer and repetitive hand motions.

Salary Range: $61,000-$82,407 (base) = $2,000 PASS Stipend

+$1,000 Master's Degree
