Description/Notes: 1. Direct, develop and execute annual audit plan.
2. Coordinate and conduct school activity fund audits.
3. Conduct financial, compliance and operational audits in all areas of school district such as Attendance, Transportation, Food Service, Dropouts and all business operations.
4. Communicate audit findings verbally and in written memos and reports.
5. Direct, coordinate and monitor work performed by audit staff.
6. Provide audit assistance to external audits in the areas of: annual observations of physical inventory counts for District warehouses, regulated state audits/desk audits such as leaver audits, etc.
7. Research and help implement accounting software package for business applications and campus activity funds.
8. Conduct and act as team leader over series of financial training courses for entire system of school bookkeepers and for principals and campus administrators.
9. Conduct fraud investigations.
10. Review operating systems in the various areas and provide recommendations for improving the process.
11. Serve as team member on various special projects such as capital assets, technology systems, etc.
12. Complete special projects and audits as assigned by the Board of Trustees.
Qualifications: • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
• CPA or CIA (Certified Internal Auditor) preferred
• Minimum of 5 years accounting experience required (preferable school related)
• Knowledge of school fund accounting and school activity accounting policies and procedures
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills in dealing with a wide variety of district and external personnel
• Demonstrated leadership skills
• Knowledge and proficiency using personal computers and related software (i.e. Microsoft Office Products such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
• Physical demands of the job involve conducting physical inventories in hot temperatures that require climbing, lifting and re-arranging heavy objects. Lifting heavy boxes of records and supplies when conducting campus audits.
Salary Range: MINIMIM SALARY: $88,942
MAXIMUM SALARY: $120,331
