| Campus Description: | We ARE a public school district. With the addition of a high school in 2021, our single PK-8th grade campus “Garner Elementary” was renamed Garner College and Career Preparatory Academy. We added one grade level (9-12) each year starting with the graduating cohort of 2025. We received our designation as a P-TECH campus in 2022, and the graduating class of 2026 will be the first official P-TECH graduating class. Pathways in Technology Early College High Schools (P-TECH) are innovative public high schools designated by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) that blend high school, college coursework, and career training to prepare students for college and the workforce. P-TECH programs are part of Texas’ College and Career Readiness School Models (CCRSM) and are designed to serve students who might not otherwise attend college while providing accelerated pathways to credentials and work experience. Core Features: • Open-enrollment, tuition-free programs for students in grades 9–12 (and up to six years) that embed postsecondary coursework alongside high school studies. • Students can earn a high school diploma plus postsecondary credentials—such as an industry-based certificate, Level I or II certificate, or an associate degree—at no cost. • Work-based learning including internships, apprenticeships, mentoring, and workplace experiences occurs at every grade level and is aligned to regional industry needs. • Partnerships with higher education institutions and employers are central, helping students gain technical skills and workplace readiness relevant to high-demand, high-wage careers. |
