School District is located within Galveston County. It has four campuses in addition to Kids First Head Start. The enrollment is
approximately 1,891 students in grades Pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. This student population is 38% African American,
36.3% Hispanic, 21.2% White and 3.7% multiracial. There is an overall rate of 82.8% for Economically Disadvantaged.

Description/Notes: Primary Purpose:
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources Career Cluster designed to fulfill their maximum potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and technical skills in agricultural mechanics, welding, livestock production, agricultural science, and related career pathways.
Qualifications: Qualifications:
Education/Certification:

Bachelor’s degree from accredited university

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university

• Valid Texas teaching certificate with appropriate Career and Technical Education (CTE) certification in Agriculture Science and Technology



Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of agricultural science, agricultural mechanics, welding, livestock production, small engines, and power systems

• Ability to operate and instruct students in the safe use of agricultural equipment and tools

• Knowledge of Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources

• Strong classroom management, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

• Ability to supervise student projects, FFA activities, and livestock shows

• Knowledge of shop safety procedures and agricultural laboratory management



Experience:

Student teaching or approved internship
• Experience in agricultural education or related agricultural industry preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Strategies
Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with TEKS and district curriculum requirements.
Teach courses in agricultural science, agricultural mechanics, welding, livestock production, and related subjects.
Provide hands-on instruction and supervise laboratory/shop activities safely and effectively.
Prepare students for industry certifications, postsecondary education, and careers in agriculture.
Utilize instructional technologies and project-based learning strategies.
Differentiate instruction according to student needs, abilities, and learning styles.
Maintain a classroom and shop environment conducive to learning and safety.Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district’s curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in individual student differences.
Student Growth and Development
Encourage leadership, teamwork, responsibility, and career readiness.
Establish and maintain standards of student behavior.
Monitor student progress and provide timely feedback.
Sponsor and supervise FFA chapter activities and student participation in competitions, livestock shows, and leadership events.
Classroom Management and Organization
Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
Program Management
Maintain inventory and care of tools, machinery, equipment, and instructional materials.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and district procedures.
Coordinate supervised agricultural experience (SAE) programs for students.
Assist in development and promotion of the district’s Agriculture Science program.
Communication
Maintain professional relationships with students, parents, colleagues, community members, and industry partners.
Communicate effectively regarding student achievement and program activities.
Professional Growth and Development
Participate in professional development activities and agricultural education organizations.
Stay current with emerging agricultural technology and industry practices.
Other

Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
Attend faculty meetings and required district events.
Perform other duties as assigned by campus administration.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Direct the work of assigned instructional aide(s).

Salary Range: $60,000 - $81,285
