| Description/Notes: | Primary Purpose: The Director of Marketing & Communications is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive communications strategy that enhances Royal ISD's public image, promotes internal and external engagement, tells the district's story, recruits exceptional team members, provides district level communication with all stakeholders, and supports the district's strategic goals. This role serves as the chief spokesperson and ensures consistent and engaging messaging across all platforms, including media relations, digital communications, social media, marketing initiatives, and internal communications. Major Responsibilities and Duties: Publications and Information Services Assist with the production, publication, and distribution of district publications and news releases. Transcribe district notes and documents for publication. Take photographs for district publications, presentations, and displays. Record meetings or programs (both video and audio) throughout the district. Edit, clip photos and video, as needed. Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy, including internal and external messaging, branding, public relations, and digital communications. Serve as the primary spokesperson for the district and manage media relations at the direction of the Superintendent. Create, oversee, and ensure consistency in content across all communication channels, including websites, social media, newsletters, press releases, and marketing materials. Collaborate with leadership, departments, and stakeholders to support messaging aligned with district priorities. Plan and execute public engagement initiatives, events, and campaigns. Monitor and report on media coverage, communications metrics, and public perception. Manage crisis communications and provide strategic counsel to leadership during sensitive situations. Oversee production of publications, presentations, and other communication materials. Maintain relationships with media outlets, community organizations, and stakeholders. Ensure compliance with organizational policies, regulatory guidelines, and legal standards for communication. Support campuses with communication strategies to improve communication, image, etc. at the campus level. Train staff on communication best practices. Lead efforts to continue to refine brand management. Regularly celebrate district, students and staff across all levels. Plan and coordinate events, celebrations, activities, etc. that enhance communications and marketing for the district. Manage employee celebrations; word directly with the Superintendent to plan and coordinate. Support efforts to market and enhance communications/media relations through district newsletters, podcasts, etc. Attend Board meetings and other after-school/evening events on an ongoing basis throughout the school year. Take pictures, post on social media, write articles, etc. detailing these events. Serve as the head of storytelling for the district and ensure regular information and stories are told related to the district's priorities and achievements. Maintain social media and district websites. Accompany the Superintendent to community events; build community partnerships that strengthen communications. Plan and prepare presentation materials, informational handouts, programs, etc. as needed for district events or presentations. Records, Reports, and Correspondence Maintain a log of media calls and information requests. Compile, maintain, and file reports, records, correspondence, and other documents as required. Other Answer incoming calls and respond to routine inquiries from the public, media, board of trustees, and staff as directed. Refer nonroutine inquiries to the Superintendent. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. Other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervise the campus communications liaisons, including staff responsible for public relations, digital media, marketing, and content creation. Provide leadership, mentoring, and professional development opportunities to district staff. Manage departmental budgets, resources, and other needs to achieve communication objectives.
