Description/Notes: Assist the superintendent in providing leadership and oversight for district operations, curriculum and instruction, personnel, and other district priorities to ensure high-quality learning experiences and strong outcomes for all Lytle students.
Qualifications: Experience:

Required – Minimum of five years of increasing leadership responsibility in public education including at least three years successful experience as a campus principal

Preferred - Leadership at multiple campus levels and/or central office leadership experience



Education/Certification:

Required - Master’s degree in education or related field

Required- Valid Texas principal certification

Preferred - Texas superintendent certification



Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of district-level operations

Knowledge of school law and hearing procedures

Knowledge of educational philosophy, research, strategies, laws, and policies

Knowledge of curriculum and instruction theory and practical application

Skill in leading efforts to design, implement, measure, and improve educational programs and services

Ability to manage strategic change for the organization

Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data

Ability to manage budget and personnel

Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills



Major Responsibilities and Duties:

District Leadership and Instructional Oversight

Assist the superintendent in the daily leadership and operation of the district, ensuring effective implementation of the district’s vision, goals, and strategic priorities.
Provide leadership and oversight for assigned departments, campuses, and district initiatives to support high levels of student learning and organizational effectiveness.
Lead and support districtwide efforts related to curriculum, instruction, assessment, professional learning, and continuous improvement to ensure strong academic outcomes for all students.
Monitor instructional programs, student performance data, and campus improvement efforts to ensure alignment with district goals, state accountability standards, and best practices in teaching and learning.
Support campus administrators in the implementation of effective instructional practices, professional growth, and operational leadership.
Coordinate and support the development of the district academic calendar, district improvement planning, student attendance, and school safety initiatives.


Organizational Management and Compliance

Develop, implement, and evaluate long-range plans, programs, and operational systems that support district priorities and student success.
Support budget development, resource allocation, enrollment projections, staffing needs, and operational planning for assigned areas.
Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, State Board of Education rules, local board policies, and district procedures.
Maintain systems and processes to monitor district performance objectives, accountability measures, and operational effectiveness.
Keep district leadership informed regarding legal, legislative, and policy developments affecting public education.
Oversee district data systems and compliance functions, including PEIMS, state and local assessments, alternative education programs (ISS/DAEP), student discipline systems, and master scheduling, to ensure accuracy and support for student outcomes.


Personnel Leadership and Professional Development

Oversee personnel administration for assigned areas, including staffing recommendations, employee supervision, contract administration, and organizational planning.
Recruit, support, supervise, and evaluate assigned staff while fostering a culture focused on collaboration, professionalism, accountability, and student-centered decision-making.
Lead and support professional learning opportunities designed to strengthen leadership capacity, instructional effectiveness, and operational performance across the district.
Conduct or supervise investigations and administrative reviews related to employee concerns, student matters, complaints, and grievance procedures as assigned by the superintendent.


Communication and Community Relations

Foster strong communication and collaboration among district departments, campuses, families, and community stakeholders to support student achievement and district initiatives.
Represent the superintendent and district at board meetings, public events, community functions, and governmental meetings as requested.
Maintain a visible presence throughout the district and community, demonstrating responsiveness to district and stakeholder needs. Regularly attend extracurricular and community events.
Provide reports, presentations, recommendations, and other information to the superintendent, Board of Trustees, and district leadership as needed.


Other Duties

Maintain confidentiality of student, employee, personnel, investigative, and district information in accordance with applicable laws, policies, and professional standards.
Attend board meetings and prepare reports or presentations as requested.
Comply with all district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned by the superintendent.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervises staff as assigned by the superintendent.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; stand and move throughout the room and/or facility. Duties also include moderate standing, stooping, bending, lifting/transport of up to 50 lbs and the ability to work with frequent interruptions. Frequent district wide and statewide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
Salary Range: $428.49 to $579.72 Per Day
