| Description/Notes: | Primary Purpose: Provide leadership, coordination, and development of a comprehensive, district-wide professional learning program that supports high-quality instruction and leadership development. Collaborate with district and campus leaders to design, implement, and evaluate professional development aligned to district goals, educator effectiveness, and student outcomes. Oversee the Mentor Prep Program and ensure effective implementation and calibration of the Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS). Major Responsibilities and Duties: Lead the planning, coordination, and evaluation of district-wide professional learning aligned to district goals and campus needs Supports school and District improvement priorities through development of teacher, administrator, and staff learning opportunities Collaborate with district and campus leadership to identify professional development priorities based on data Design and deliver high-quality professional development opportunities for teachers, instructional staff, and administrators Oversee the district's Mentor Program, including compliance with the Mentor Program Allotment Coordinate and ensure fidelity of T-TESS implementation across the district Provide training and calibration support for all T-TESS appraisers to ensure consistency and accuracy Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of professional learning programs and adjust as needed Support leadership development initiatives for campus and district administrators Maintain compliance with state requirements related to professional development and teacher support programs Manage budgets and resources related to professional learning initiatives Stay current on best practices, research, and state guidance related to professional learning and educator effectiveness Communication: Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills Effectively present information and facilitate professional learning for diverse audiences, including teachers, administrators, and district leadership Communicate clearly and consistently with stakeholders regarding expectations, timelines, and program outcomes Build and maintain positive working relationships with campus and district staff Provide constructive feedback and coaching to support professional growth Prepare reports, presentations, and documentation for district leadership and the school board as needed Mental/Physical Demands: Maintain emotional control under pressure and in high-stakes situations Work with frequent interruptions and manage multiple priorities and deadlines Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in response to changing district needs and state requirements Use critical thinking and problem-solving skills to analyze data and make informed decisions Frequent district-wide travel to campuses and training locations Occasional prolonged and irregular work hours during peak training and evaluation periods Ability to lift and carry light materials (e.g., training resources, technology equipment) The Abilene ISD does not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, military status, or any other basis prohibited by law. | Qualifications: | Qualifications: Education/Certification: Master's degree in education administration, educational leadership, or a related field Valid Texas teaching certification Principal certification preferred Certified Texas Evaluation and Support System (TTESS appraiser Special Knowledge/Skills: Strong understanding of adult learning and effective professional development practices Knowledge of Texas teacher evaluation systems, including T-TESS Ability to design, implement, and evaluate professional learning programs Strong collaboration, communication, and facilitation skills Ability to analyze data to inform professional learning decisions Knowledge of state and federal accountability systems, including teacher effectiveness and student outcomes Organizational and project management skills with attention to detail Experience: Experience in instructional leadership (instructional coach, campus administrator, district leadership role) Experience planning and delivering professional development to adults Experience with TTESS appraiser process and calibration |
