Description/Notes: Position Summary: The La Vega Independent School District is seeking qualified, highly motivated applicants for the position of Police Officer. The officer will be responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors across all district facilities and events. The position requires a proactive, community-based policing approach within an educational setting.




Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience in school-based law enforcement or patrol experience
· Training in crisis intervention, de-escalation, or school safety
· Familiarity with multi-hazard emergency operations plans
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Maintain a visible law enforcement presence on assigned campuses
· Protect the safety and welfare of students, staff, and visitors
· Respond to emergencies, criminal activity, and disciplinary incidents
· Enforce federal, state, and local laws, as well as district policies
· Assist in emergency drills and campus safety planning
· Collaborate with administrators, counselors, and teachers to support a safe learning
environment
· Participate in threat assessment team and safety committee efforts
· Provide mentoring and educational support to students when appropriate
· Prepare reports and maintain accurate documentation
· Assist with traffic control and security during arrival, dismissal, and events

Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications:

· Must hold a current Texas Peace Officer License issued by TCOLE

· Must be eligible to work in the State of Texas

· Must meet all requirements of Texas Education Code 37.081 and 37.0814

· High school diploma or GED required (college coursework preferred)

· Valid Texas Driver’s License

· Ability to pass a criminal background check, psychological evaluation, physical agility test, and drug screening

· Must live within McLennan County or be willing to relocate within the county
Salary Range: $27.12/hour to $38/19/hour
226 days per year
8 hours per day
