Description/Notes: | PRIMARY FUNCTION PAY GRADE: Develop, implement and maintain effective internal and external communication strategies. This role supports the organization’s messaging, branding, and engagement efforts by creating content, managing digital platforms, coordinating media relations, and assisting with public relations initiatives. The Communication Coordinator ensures that all communications align with the organization’s goals, enhance its reputation, and foster meaningful connections with stakeholders. QUALIFICATIONS Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications, or a related field preferred Special Knowledge/Skills: Exceptional public relations, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in speaking effectively before diverse audiences, including employees, parents, and the public. Strong written and oral communication skills for engaging with all levels of management, both internal and external. Proficiency in desktop publishing, word processing, Adobe Creative Suite, and database tools for designing and producing district publications. Familiarity with website information management and current industry technologies. Strong research and interpretive skills to manage topical information under tight deadlines. Manage social media accounts, create content calendars, and schedule posts to enhance engagement. Capability to establish collaborative relationships with local businesses. Assist in planning, promoting, and executing events, including press conferences, community outreach programs, and stakeholder meetings. Develop promotional materials and manage event-related communication. Proven ability to meet deadlines. Experience: 1–3 years of experience in journalism, public relations, communications, or a related field (preferred) Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate EVALUATION Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with provision of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. Develop, write, and edit engaging content for internal and external communication, including newsletters, press releases, website updates, and social media. 2. Promote district achievements through creative designs and initiatives to engage the community. 3. Oversee websites, social media, and advertising platforms daily. 4. Design and produce newsletters, brochures, and other district materials. 5. Manage website updates and content related to key events (e.g., back-to-school, graduation). 6. Administer website functionality, including user access and password management. 7. Plan and manage social media campaigns, schedules, and content creation. 8. Serve as the primary district photographer for various events and initiatives. 9. Coordinate video and photography requests for digital platforms. 10. Support the development of crisis communication plans and provide timely responses to urgent situations. 11. Monitor communication effectiveness by analyzing engagement metrics, feedback, and industry trends. 12. Assist in creating electronic communications, speeches, presentations, and correspondence. 13. Facilitate advertising opportunities in district publications. 14. Serve as the district’s point of contact for media outlets as needed. 15. Adhere to professional and ethical standards, in accordance with generally accepted community standards and the Texas Education Agency Code of Ethics. 16. Develop needed professional skills appropriate to job performance. 17. Maintain confidentiality. 18. Reliable attendance and punctuality. 19. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. 20. Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills. 21. Attend and participate in staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required. 22. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy. 23. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and the Superintendent of Schools. |
