PRIMARY PURPOSE:



The Grant Writer will lead the district’s efforts in identifying, developing, writing, and securing grant funding opportunities that align with Spring ISD’s Five-Year Plan and strategic priorities. This position is responsible for managing all aspects of the grant development cycle including research, proposal writing, budgeting, compliance monitoring, and post-award reporting. The Grant Writer will also cultivate collaborative partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, community agencies, and public/private funding sources to expand educational opportunities and district capacity.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Management of Administrative, Fiscal, and/or Facilities Functions:

Identify and monitor grant funding opportunities aligned with district priorities
Write and submit competitive grant proposals, contribution proposals, letters of intent, and related documentation
Collaborate with program managers, academic departments, and finance staff to ensure accurate budget development and alignment of proposal content
Maintain a comprehensive tracking system to monitor grant submissions, deadlines, reports, and award status
Prepare timely and accurate interim and final grant reports in compliance with funder requirements
Coordinate grant-related activities across departments and serve as a liaison with funding agencies
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local grant regulations and procedures
Provide professional development or training to district staff in effective grant writing techniques


Organization Improvement:

Evaluate district needs and match them with appropriate funding opportunities
Disseminate grant-related updates, funding notices, and resources to relevant departments
Support continuous improvement by analyzing past grant efforts, outcomes, and feedback
Develop and share best practices in grant writing and management across the district
Represent the district at local, state, and national meetings and conferences relevant to grants and funding opportunities


Professional Growth and Development:

Stay current with best practices in grant development, education funding trends, and applicable legislation
Attend professional development sessions and industry conferences related to education funding and nonprofit development
Collaborate with peer districts and agencies for shared grant opportunities and learning School/Community Relations:
Establish and maintain partnerships with community agencies, foundations, higher education institutions, and other public/private organizations
Promote grant-funded programs through district communication channels and external outreach
Encourage collaboration and collective impact through regional partnerships and consortia
Organization Morale:

Foster a positive and supportive working environment by modeling professionalism, respect, and collaboration
Promote transparency, communication, and continuous improvement within the grants function
Recognize team efforts and celebrate successes in securing and implementing grant awards
Other Responsibilities:

Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in handling sensitive grant or district data
Ensure all documentation and reporting complies with state, federal, and grantor requirements
Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director – Finance or designee


WORKING CONDITIONS:



The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: physical mobility, standing, prolonged sitting, some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling. This position will also require both traveling within the district and statewide.



Mental demands: Ability to solve problems and manage multiple complex projects under strict deadlines; ability to interpret and synthesize various data sets and funding guidelines; ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written formats; ability to maintain emotional control under stress; and ability to interact professionally with individuals at all organizational levels and external agencies.

SPECIAL FUNDING



This position is funded by the Indirect Costs received from the awarded grant opportunities. You understand that your employment is expressly conditioned on the availability of full funding for the position. If full funding becomes unavailable, your employment is subject to termination or nonrenewal, as applicable.
Qualifications: QUALIFICATIONS:



Required:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in English, Journalism, Communications, Education, or a related research-based field
Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication
Proficiency in internet-based research and electronic grant application platforms
Strong project management, organizational, and time management skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively under deadlines
Knowledge of federal and state grant submission requirements and guidelines
Understanding of grant process stages: pre-award, post-award, and closeout Experience developing budgets in collaboration with program and finance teams
Proficient in in-kind match compliance and sustainability planning.
Preferred:

Advanced written communication skills, including proposal writing and substantive editing
Effective presentation skills and the ability to clearly communicate complex information to a variety of audiences
High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders and external agencies
High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and internet search platforms
Knowledge of data tracking and reporting tools related to grant compliance and performance
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:



Strong knowledge of research-based instructional practices, particularly for diverse and at-risk student populations
Deep understanding of the Texas TIA Program, the Designation System Requirements, and educator evaluation models
Proficiency in using software tools for data analysis, spreadsheet development, and word processing
Ability to manage budgets, personnel, and district-wide initiatives
Excellent public relations, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to effectively present information before groups, including employees, the school board, and other stakeholders
Ability to travel at least 25% of the time
