POSITION OVERVIEW:
At the Texas Education Agency’s Office of Governance (OG), we are driven by a powerful mission: to proactively support school systems, keep students safe, and uphold Texas education law with integrity, objectivity, and excellence. Our core workstreams—Field Support and Compliance & Investigations—focus on strengthening governance, fostering a culture of accountability, and promoting continuous improvement across Texas schools. By working closely with school systems and agency teams, we help ensure every Texas public school student has access to a safe, high-quality education.

The Division of Governance Interventions is a dynamic and mission-driven team committed to helping school systems thrive. We partner with districts and charter schools across Texas to improve student outcomes, financial stewardship, and effective governance. Through proactive guidance and tailored support, we help school boards and administrators lead effectively and with purpose while meeting legal and regulatory responsibilities. In cases where challenges arise, such as non-compliance or findings from special investigations, the Commissioner of Education may initiate strategic interventions, including appointing a monitor, conservator, or Board of Managers to a school system. These efforts are designed to be supportive and transformative, helping districts and charter schools strengthen leadership, rebuild trust, and implement lasting improvements in student achievement, governance, and operations.

The intervention monitoring specialist plays a key role in implementing strategic interventions, working closely with the director of intervention monitoring to coordinate and support monitor and conservator placements. This work includes developing comprehensive project plans and collaborating across agency divisions to ensure smooth, effective implementation. The project manager also contributes to building a strong network of intervention leaders by supporting recruitment, coaching, ongoing professional development, and performance evaluation. Through these efforts, the project manager helps ensure that each intervention is rooted in best practices that strengthen district leadership and improve outcomes for Texas students.

Flexible work location within the state of Texas may be considered for qualified candidates.

Please note that a resume is a required attachment for applying to this position. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Additionally, applicants who are strongly being considered for employment must submit to a national criminal history background check.
