Description/Notes: | About You As the Sr. Communications Specialist, you will lead and manage internal strategic change management communications campaigns, oversee project management, and ensure the delivery of high-quality communications materials that align with TASB’s mission and values. A Typical Day Develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive communications plans that support TASB’s strategic objectives and enhances its reputation among employees, members, and the public. Partner with internal departments, including the People Team, to support strategic planning, change management and performance accountability. Collaborate with senior leadership to identify communication opportunities and risks, and to craft appropriate strategies to address them. Analyze data metrics to assess the effectiveness of communications campaigns and strategies, making data-driven recommendations for improvement. If you’re still reading, we’d love to meet you! How You’ll Make an Impact Focus on supporting internal communications to promote employee engagement and change. Provide expert guidance and project management for strategic communications campaigns, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of accuracy and quality. Foster a culture of collaboration, excellence, creativity, and continuous improvement. Produce and oversee the creation of high-level content for a variety of platforms, ensuring consistency and quality across all channels. Write engaging and accurate content for newsletters, social media, the website, videos and the association’s flagship magazine, Texas Lone Start. Serve as a communications liaison with internal areas needing support with specific events, campaigns, and outreach efforts. Create compelling and informative materials to support internal/external meetings and events, including PPT decks, brochures, handouts, and flyers. Provide communications support for internal events and initiatives to develop employee awareness and engagement. |
Qualifications: | Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or related field required. Master’s degree or additional certification in a related field preferred. Minimum of six years of experience in a communications role, with at least two years in a senior specialist capacity or as a team lead. Prior experience with Human Resources or change management. Prior experience as a communications specialist in a K-12 public education or nonprofit setting preferred Proven experience in leading communications campaigns and managing projects in a complex organizational environment. Prior experience with internal communications and an understanding of how to engage with employee audiences. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills. Strong project leadership abilities and the ability to provide strategic guidance. Advanced knowledge of social media management and digital communication tools. Demonstrated ability to think strategically and work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders. Understanding of K-12 public education landscape. Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Outstanding organizational and planning skills, including an understanding of project management and change management. Proficiency in MS Office and experience working in a content management system. Knowledge of AP Style. Periodic overnight travel may be required. |
Salary Range: | $65,000-$101,000 |
