Description/Notes: Direct, manage, and provide leadership for business and operations functions for the district, aligned with the district’s mission, vision, and beliefs. Responsible for oversight in all business and finance related functions. Provide leadership for the district’s financial services activity to ensure legally sound and effective management practices. Direct and monitor the management and investment of all district funds and ensure they are adequately protected. Serves as chief financial advisor and budget advisor to the superintendent and board of trustees.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from accredited university. Master’s degree in Finance or Accounting preferred. CPA preferred. CPA and/or TASBO certification preferred. Minimum of five years in public education or private sector management experience. Management and leadership experience required. Experience with supervisory responsibility in the fields of finance or accounting.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
o Knowledge of overall school district operations as related to school finance/risk management
o Knowledge of state of Texas finance system
o Knowledge of governmental accounting
o Knowledge of information/data processing systems and financial applications
o Advanced knowledge of school finance, budgeting, accounting systems , and economics
o Demonstrated leadership skills
o Ability to resolve conflict, listen, and appropriately respond to concerns
o Ability to manage budget and personnel
o Ability to implement policy and procedures
o Ability to interpret data
o Ability to conduct presentations
o Ability to facilitate learning with groups using facilitative leadership skills
o Ability to communicate in a clear and effective manner, both orally and in writing in a clear and easy-to-understand way to a variety of audiences
o Ability to work professionally and collaboratively with others
o Strong and effective organizational, written, communication, interpersonal, public relations, and customer service skills
