Description/Notes: The Family and Community Educator T1 is responsible for providing meaningful engagement initiatives, assisting with creating a welcoming environment for parents and families, building school-parent/family and community partnerships, and coordinating a variety of programs and events at their designated home campus to ensure student success, under the immediate supervision of the campus Principal. The Family and Community Educator will also assist FBISD in their commitment and goals toward effective parent/family engagement through learning and understanding families' diverse needs and assisting in cultivating a school culture and climate that effectively addresses those needs at the campus level.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Establish meaningful campus level parent/family and community engagement:

Collaborate with the Campus Community Engagement Partner, Parent Engagement Facilitators, and Family Engagement Council to design and implement a Family Engagement Plan
Plan, schedule, organize and facilitate activities, classes, workshops, and services as defined through the Early Literacy Family Engagement Plan
Facilitate, prepare, and implement district mandated and campus based parent/family classes and programs
Collaborate with agencies and school staff to ensure successful implementation of parenting/family activities
Support school personnel in the development and implementation of the campus parent/family engagement policy and campus compact through the facilitation of parent/family meetings
Create opportunities to understand the diverse needs of families and provide responses to those needs
Provide relevant and specific input to support and increase parent/family engagement
Serve as a liaison between school and home to facilitate and foster a positive and welcoming environment between the two
Support efforts to keep parents/families informed of school functions and initiatives
Survey parents to determine needs and assess effectiveness of the PFE program
Effectively communicate with parents/families face to face, through emails and telephone calls
Organize PFE materials (Produce flyers, calendars, agendas, and sign in sheets), activities and communications (newsletters, content for websites, electronic media, etc.)
Follow state and federal Title 1 mandated rules, regulations. and compliance policies
Maintain campus parent/family engagement Title 1 documentation to show evidence of implementation of the requirements noted in ESSA, Section 1116
Provide a parent/family presentation/orientation on all Title 1 mandated programs
Attend all meetings and trainings scheduled for parent/family educators
Perform all other duties as assigned that are related to the PFE requirements noted in noted in ESSA, Section 1116

High School diploma or GED
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both orally and in writing
Proficiency in Microsoft applications and general office skills
Ability to organize, prioritize, meet deadlines, and coordinate multiple programs
Ability to work independently, within guidelines, and in a team setting
Ability to perform a variety of tasks often changing assignments on short notice, with little or not direction
Ability to work flexible hours, including after hours and Saturdays
Bilingual preferred: able to read, speak and write Spanish
Salary Range: $35,914-$50,310
