Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities



Instructional Strategies

Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district’s curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in individual students’ differences.
Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology that reflect an understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned and present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
Assess student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
Plan and assign work to the instructional aide(s) and volunteer(s) and oversee completion.

Student Growth and Development

Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
Be a positive role model for students; support the mission of the school district.


Classroom Management and Organization

Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
Communication
Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.

Direct the work of assigned instructional aide(s).


Working Conditions



Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office and instructional equipment including personal computer and peripherals.

Posture: Prolonged standing, frequent walking, sitting; occasional bending/stooping, kneeling, squatting, pushing/pulling, and twisting.

Motion: Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse. Occasional reaching.

Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may lift and move textbooks and classroom equipment.

Environment: Work inside, may work outside; regular exposure to noise.

Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions and prolonged or irregular hours.

Qualifications: Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or associate degree from an accredited college or university.
Minimum two (2) years full-time wage-earning industry work experience within the past ten (10) years as required by certification.
Demonstrated competency in the career and technical education subject area assigned.
[Physical Education Teachers: Current automated external defibrillator (AED) certificate].
Boerne ISD requires all Math, Science, Social Studies, English, and Special Education teachers to have ESL certification. If you do not hold the ESL requirement already, you will be required to obtain it during your 1st year of teaching.
Must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the candidate.


Minimum Requirements (Certifications) to teach Computer Programming

Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Certification and Cisco Certified Academic Instructor (CCAI) Certification (must be obtained within the first year of teaching).
Linux Certification (must be obtained within the first year of teaching).
Preferred Qualifications

Valid Texas career and technical education certificate with required license, endorsements and training for the subject and level assigned (Comp. Sci 8-12 or Computer Information Systems Jr. High or High 6-12 or Tech Aps 6-12.
Five (5) years of wage-earning experience in the area of certification
Salary Range: 55,142 - 64,646 (based on 24-25 SY pay scales)
