Description/Notes: | Job Title: Senior Education Specialist, School Improvement (Leadership Development) Classification: Admin/Prof Exemption Status/Test: Exempt/Professional Job Grade: 6 Department: District Systemic Support Reports To: Director Job Goal: Support campuses involved in School Improvement (SI), through turnaround efforts. Assist and build capacity with campus leadership teams through professional development, observation, coaching, and feedback to improve student achievement and promote excellence in educational programs to meet and exceed state and federal accountability standards. Coach, model, and lead capacity building for others within the SI Team; and serve as a point of contact for all school improvement communication. Major Responsibilities/Essential Functions: 1. Provide support as a key member of the school improvement team and demonstrate proactive communication among area districts/charters, other regional service centers, and the Texas Education Agency regarding school improvement initiatives. 2. Champion the Region 4 philosophy of school improvement both internally and externally. 3. Lead and support identified campuses with the development, implementation, and monitoring of targeted improvement plans and turnaround plans aligned to the Effective Schools Framework. 4. Collaborate with department team members to develop, plan, implement, and present effective professional learning, products, and services in the areas of campus and district leadership to improve student outcomes. 5. Develop, present, and facilitate professional learning sessions, series, convenings, and conferences related to school improvement, instructional leadership, and/or leadership development. 6. Develop, present, and facilitate effective professional development related to instructional leadership within the department. 7. Continually monitor the progress of those educators being coached through department initiatives. 8. Coach, model, and manage capacity building within the department as it relates to school improvement, instructional leadership, and leadership development. 9. Engage in professional learning to maintain knowledge and skills in area(s) of responsibility. 10. Set goals, develop, and meet timelines with a high degree of personal accountability. 11. Participate in the collection, analysis, and reporting of data to monitor impact and adapt plans and services for the advancement of the service center’s mission, vision, and goals. 12. Remain abreast of state and federal rules, regulations, and policies related to school improvement. 13. Participate in state-level functions related to area(s) of responsibility. 14. Provide technical assistance and services as specified by any applicable federal grant that funds this position. Supervision/Personnel Management None |
Qualifications: | Qualifications: Education Master’s degree Doctoral degree, preferred Certification 1. Texas Educator Certificate 2. Texas Mid-Management or Principal Certificate (If any of the following certifications are missing, they must be obtained by the next Region 4 delivery cycle.) T-TESS Certification T-PESS Certification AEL Certification Experience 1. Three years of combined experience in campus administration (Principal or Assistant Principal) with at least one as a campus Principal and a track record of improving student outcomes 2. Two years of district-level leadership experience 3. Five years of teaching experience in a traditional district/charter school Special Knowledge and Skills 1. Demonstrated success in leading major district/campus improvement initiatives 2. Broad knowledge of school leadership and administration 3. Broad-based knowledge of effective campus practices in instructional leadership, staff and student culture, well-supported teachers, high-quality curriculum, and data-driven instruction 4. Exemplary written and verbal communication skills 5. Demonstrated skill in motivating and influencing others towards outcomes through the use of effective coaching 6. Demonstrated ability to analyze data effectively to inform decision-making about necessary change 7. Demonstrated ability to develop and manage the implementation of complex, multi-phase projects 8. Knowledge of best practices related to change management, including, but not limited to, those practices that can either impede or empower leadership 9. Exhibits a growth mindset and is open to receiving job-embedded coaching 10. Ability to lead projects and project teams, plan, develop, and execute all project goals 11. Ability to work flexible schedules based on the needs of the department and LEAs serviced |
Salary Range: | $101,045 to $118,876 Per Year |
