Description/Notes: | Job Overview The Assistant Superintendent will provide direct leadership to each campus assigned in order to meet the instructional goals of the district and to ensure the integrity of the vision of this school district. Position Description Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide leadership in causing student achievement goals of the school district to be met in assigned schools through guidance for assigned campuses on developing appropriate strategic goals and objectives aligned with the FBISD overall strategic vision, mission, goals, and objectives, and provide active support for achieving them Collaborate with District personnel to schedule and administer professional development to positively impact student outcomes in a cost effective manner Monitor campus data, including but not limited to enrollment, staffing, student and teacher attendance, graduation rates, special education services, standardized testing, failure rates, dropouts, completion rates, discipline, class size, and extracurricular activities Monitor assigned campuses in regard to curriculum, instruction, and the integration of technology Involve the appropriate staff in evaluating and selecting instructional materials to meet student-learning needs Communicate the District's policy, goals, and guidelines to assigned principals Use student data to predict enrollment of schools and recommend adjusted boundaries when necessary for the efficient use of facilities and staff Ensure that assigned schools comply with all policies, laws, and procedures Respond to stakeholders’ visits, phone calls, emails, and/or any form of communication regarding assigned schools Support district and campus rules of conduct and work with appropriate staff in the development of a Student Handbook Assure that each assigned campus provides and follows the guidelines in an Employee Handbook Hire, monitor, supervise, and evaluate assigned campus principals Assist with and make final decisions regarding campus administrators subordinate to the principal Assist campus administrators with documentation of staff as necessary Maintain visibility on and availability for assigned schools Hear and provide written responses to grievances as required Monitor the use of campus financials, including but not limited to campus budgets, Title funds, and activity accounts Encourage plans for improved student behavior that reflect enhanced opportunities for learning Articulate the District's mission and instructional philosophy to the community and solicit their support in realizing its mission Demonstrate awareness of school/community needs and initiate activities to meet those identified needs Utilize the District's administrative appraisal instrument appropriately and ensure the process clearly and accurately represent staff performance Emphasize and nurture two-way communication between the school and community Respond to requests for information from the Superintendent, providing all pertinent data and information Hold at least quarterly evaluative meetings with assigned principals, reviewing student and financial data in relationship to campus and District goals Use information provided through assessment instruments, the District appraisal process, and evaluative feedback from instructional personnel to improve student performance Work collaboratively with other Department of School Leadership members as well as all Executive Team members Improve leadership skills through self-initiated professional development activities on a continuous basis Attend School Board meetings, providing information and presentations as required Utilize information and insights gained in professional development programs in addressing District goals Provide leadership and disseminate ideas and information to other professionals Provide personal conduct that is professional, ethical, and responsible, projecting a positive image to the community Additional Information The position generally involves only exposure to normal, everyday risks; however, some activities involving students with disabilities may require knowledge of intervention and restraint techniques. Some activities involve contact with irate parents and students. Work is subject to deadlines and requires tailoring and delivering programs to meet the needs of many groups. Work is located in the administration building and schools, and is subject to normal interruptions. Some night and weekend activities are required. |
Qualifications: | Master's degree in educational administration or a field appropriate to the assignment Doctorate degree preferred Valid Texas Mid-Management or Principal Certification or Superintendent Certification or out of state equivalent certification and the ability to obtain Texas Certification Minimum of 3 years successful teaching experience Minimum of 5 years campus principal experience required or a combination of 3 years campus principal experience combined with 2 years organizational leadership experience Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, policies and procedures in order to gain compliance, cooperation, and understanding |
Salary Range: | $155,961 - $221,465 |
