Description/Notes: Primary Purpose
To promote positive relations and establish open dialog between the school district and its internal and external constituencies consisting of students, teachers, parents, administrators, taxpayers, business leaders, public officials, media, education foundation, and other school stakeholders; prepare and provide communication tools supporting district goals through effective and efficient communications, relationship management, crisis management, creative development, special events, and tactical support.

Qualifications: Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Advertising, Communications, English, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field from an accredited institution
5+ years of experience in communications, media management, public relations, journalism, marketing, or education
3+ years of progressive leadership experience to include:
Planning, organizing, staffing, directing, and managing employees/teams
Coaching, mentoring, developing, and performance managing employees/teams
Satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check

Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree from an accredited institution
Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) by the Public Relations Society of America
Experience working in the media industry and/or public relations
Experience writing grant applications, fundraising, and working with education foundations

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proven experience in project management.
Demonstrates ability to work effectively and harmoniously with administrators, teachers, and other staff.
Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively both in written form and orally.
Ability to develop and deliver high-quality presentations for various groups
Possess technical skills necessary to perform essential job requirements such as e-mail functions, correspondence, online research, basic photography, basic social media, and Power-Point presentations.

Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and judgment skills.
Superior writing, editing, and presentation skills.
Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal legislation and policies regarding public education.
Demonstrates skills in the preparation of communication programs and campaigns utilizing research, planning, communication, and evaluation techniques.
Proven experience in 501c3 organizations and the grant-writing process
Ability to handle a variety of assignments simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Salary Range: Pay Grade: AP09
Work Days: 226
Minimum Salary: $457.21/Daily; $103,329.46
Mid-Point Salary: $550.85/Daily; $124,492.10
