Description/Notes: Under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent for Learning, the Director for Teaching and Learning shall be responsible for providing direction, leadership, and supervision in the development of district-wide school improvement efforts and implementation of quality professional learning, curriculum, and instruction programs of the district, grades K-12. The Director of Teaching and Learning shall facilitate programs, activities, and systems that support the educational process of students and staff grades K-12. Responsible for the implementation of professional learning programs and activities for all employees, including the development of professional learning communities, advancement of district priorities, curriculum, teaching strategies, classroom management, use of technology in the classroom, and student assessment. Develop training and induction programs for teachers, administrators, and support staff, as well as those in training for leadership roles.

Major Responsibilities and Duties

Assist in the development and implementation of high-quality, comprehensive professional learning programs aligned with board goals and designed to create a community of adult learners committed to enhancing student success
Conduct an annual assessment of organizational needs for professional learning at all levels of the organization and an annual data-based evaluation of the prior year’s plan.
Develops and supervises curriculum coordinators by setting goals, providing regular feedback, and conducting annual performance evaluations.
Increase capacity in the district to provide job-embedded professional learning, e-learning, instructional technology training, and learning.
Ensure professional learning activities support the curricular focus of the district; oversee the tracking of professional learning accrued by staff.
Use emerging technology platforms appropriately to deliver professional learning.
Ensure that professional learning activities are aligned with district goals and initiatives and current professional research.
Supervise and monitor Mentor Program
Implement professional learning opportunities through multiple delivery models, including formally structured workshops and digital platforms.
Provide options for leadership training and ongoing professional development for district administrators.
Develop a comprehensive district professional learning plan
Review and monitor educational research and current trends in education.
Assist in budget preparation and monitoring.
Communicate the goals, plans, and progress of the district’s professional learning program
Establish strong working relationships with school and district staff.
Ensure compliance with Standards for Professional Learning as established by Learning Forward
Keep abreast of innovative professional development techniques to provide the district with the highest quality of professional development activities.


Administrative Duties Related to Professional Learning

Review and monitor educational research and current trends in education.
Assist in budget preparation and monitoring.
Communicate the goals, plans and progress of the district professional learning program.
Establish strong working relationships with school and district staff.
Ensure compliance with Standards for Professional Learning as established by Learning Forward
Qualifications: Education/Certification:

Master’s degree in Educational Administration or Curriculum & Instruction
Mid-Management, Principal’s certificate required, Certified T-TESS appraiser.


Special Knowledge/Skills:

In-depth knowledge of best practices in curriculum, instruction, and assessment, including using high-quality instructional materials (HQIM).
Ability to evaluate curriculum, instruction, and assessment programs and teaching effectiveness
Experience in planning and presenting professional learning for teachers and staff
Experience in planning and evaluating interventions for school improvement
Experience in preparing and managing budgets and personnel
Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data
Ability to function as a member of a high-performing team
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to evaluate program and teaching effectiveness.


Experience:

Minimum of three to five years of successful teaching experience required.
Teaching experience at multiple grade levels preferred.
Minimum of five years of successful experience in school or district leadership positions required.
Experience as a campus principal preferred
Salary Range: $83,566.00 - $100,080.00 / Per Year
