Description/Notes: | DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Student Discipline and Positive Behavior Systems: Coordination and implementation and evaluation of school wide discipline following the established district policies and procedures. Counsel students and parents regarding school and district policies related to discipline. Coordinate response to the anonymous reporting app. Serve on the Behavior Threat Assessment Team. Work with Law Enforcement when necessary. Provide staff development for classroom management and restorative practices. Implement Positive Behavior Intervention System (PBIS) for the district that aligns with the district mission, vision, and core values Assist staff and parents in developing student behavioral expectations. Planning, developing, and implementing student behavioral plans. Developing and implementing programs to promote positive student recognition as well as intervention strategies. Assigning appropriate consequences for behavior following the Student Code of Conduct. Collect and review data related to school discipline. Oversee staffing for in-school suspension (ISS), if needed. Attendance and Truancy Prevention Implement truancy prevention activities for students with excessive attendance Communicate with students and parents needing attendance make-up hours to earn/restore high school credit Maintain Saturday School and attendance make-up hours In conjunction with the counselor, file truancy Operations Provide leadership for the development and implementation of a comprehensive safety, crisis response and risk management program aligned with all other school safety related regulations. Oversee the management of facilities, maintenance, custodial services, child nutrition, and transportation operations of the district. Incorporate district-level goals into operational objectives to ensure students arrive at school and school activities safely and on time; receive nutritious meals; and attend school in an environment that is safe, clean, and conducive to learning. Monitor and reevaluate assigned operations departments on an ongoing basis to ensure district needs are being met in an effective and efficient manner. Implement changes where appropriate. Inspects new construction, repair work, projects, equipment, daily maintenance and supplies for the purpose of ensuring that jobs are completed efficiently and that specifications for capital improvements are within local/state/federal regulation. Implement federal and state laws and regulations and local board policy and ensure compliance. Stay abreast of state and federal public policy changes that could impact the district. Ensure established goals and expectations related to district operations are communicated clearly, consistently, and in a timely manner. Develop and coordinate the district’s annual site impact and reunification training and drills involving district personnel and external emergency personnel. Develop and provide guidance to campuses and other facilities for emergency procedure drills. Plan and coordinate drills with all instructional and no instructional facilities to ensure readiness in conjunction with all Guidelines. Lead and facilitate the District Safety Committee. Maintaining the campus and district Emergency Management Manuals as necessary. Coordinate campus safety audits and develop corrective action plans. Respond to administrator and parent inquiries regarding emergency and security policies and procedures. Coordinate and support the district’s access control, security, and life safety systems, working in tandem with applicable departments. Responds to after-hours emergency calls as needed. Prepare and deliver written and oral presentations on operational issues to the board. Attend regular meetings of the board. Other Responsibilities Support the mission and vision of the campus and serves on improvement committees Adheres to policies and procedures of the campus and district Comply with policies established by federal and state law, including but not limited to State Board of Education and local Board policy Serve as the administrator on duty at athletic and other extracurricular events Perform other job-related duties as assigned KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES REQUIRED: Knowledge of: Must possess strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills. Prior experience and knowledge of student discipline and behavior management systems, special education, safety and security measures, transportation and other school operations as determined by the superintendent. Ability to: Interact effectively with campus staff and parents Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing Operate standard computer and software applications, including, but not limited to electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheets, databases and presentations and comfortable learning other online software systems Organize and prioritize work responsibilities with attention to details Experience: Five or more years as a teacher. Prior experience and knowledge of student discipline and behavior management systems, special education, safety and security measures, transportation and other school operations. Education: Master’s degree and Texas Principal Certification required. T-TESS certification required during the first year of employment. WORKING CONDITIONS:UPDATED 2/12/2024 Must posses CDL with Passenger Endorsement or willingness to obtain within first year of employment. Duties involve walking, sitting, standing, in-door, and out-of-door activities and some lifting. Must be able to be on your feet for long periods of time. Must be willing to interact with all types of personalities, integrate well with our staff; and handle a busy environment. Be able to lift up to 40lbs. |
