Description/Notes: The student safety coordinator will serve as the primary trainer for all evidence informed practices and programs. The coordinator will operationalize programs in the schools and community. To ensure successful implementation of programs like Green Dot, Too Good for Violence, and Youth Mental Health First Aid, the coordinator will organize and conduct trainings; support the follow-up; recruit participants from teachers to community members; ensure sustainability by making programs part of the district’s culture; and become trainers themselves. This position will be funded 100% with Stop the Violence (DOJ) grant funds. Once the Stop-V funds grant period has ended, the district may continue funding this position with other funding sources should the need arise.

Provide leadership for the STOP Violence project while working collaboratively with the school principal to implement the comprehensive project plan.
Continually assess needs of students, families, and school, and evaluate the impact of the STOP Violence program on these groups as well as continually modify services to best meet needs.
Serve as liaison with all community partners and ensure partners are trained, understand their role and implement according to their role.
Communicate the STOP Violence mission and vision to community, parents, staff and students.
Assist the Project Director in writing and producing required reports.
Collect required data for performance measures.

Other roles/duties will be assigned as necessary to assist the program in the attainment of the goals set forth and the enhancement of a positive, respectful learning environment for all staff and students.
Qualifications: Education required to ensure success in this position:
Bachelor’s degree in social work, education and/or related field with at least 3 years of experience in school safety/wellness programming, outreach, education and case management.
Experience required to ensure success in this position:
Collaborating with community-based organizations (CBOs) and other local agencies.
Prior experience with safety evidence-based practices, student voice, and trauma-informed care desired.
Providing training, case management, counseling, and group facilitation
Prior experience with Green Dot, Too Good for Violence, and Youth Mental Health First Aid desired.

Skills and knowledge coordinating a multi-faceted program
Demonstrated knowledge in school reform, college and program evaluation
Excellent written and oral communications skills and presentation skills
Excellent interpersonal skills, experience working with multi-sector teams.
Exceptional organizational skills and ability to multi-task

License, certification, or registration necessary:
Valid driver’s license
Confidentiality and background check, including social media check

Physical requirements:
Ability to work in a high energy environment all day, ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds, strong verbal presentation skills, ability to travel independently

Environmental conditions:
Professional office environment with interruptions and noise due to frequent visitors, students, staff, faculty and callers.
Regional travel within central and southeastern Kentucky; occasional national travel for trainings.
