Manage and implement the facilities master plan and prioritize bond program. Successfully track progress of all construction projects from conceptualization to completion. Maintain physical school plant in excellent operating condition so that full educational use may be made at all times. Provide a physical environment that is functional, safe, clean, and attractive.
Qualifications: Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
Clear and valid Texas drivers license

Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of principles of construction, school plant maintenance, and custodial operations
Ability to conduct on-site inspection of district facilities
Ability to manage budget and personnel
Ability to implement policy and procedures
Ability to interpret data
Ability to read blueprints and schematics
Ability to work cooperatively with a variety of stakeholders
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
5 years in public school and/or construction project management
5 years experience in maintaining a large plant or building

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Bond Projects
1. Manage and coordinate the work of the bond construction program and construction management
consultants.
2. Oversee and participate in the development of the facilities construction work plan; assign work
activities and projects; monitor work progress; review and evaluate work products, methods, and
procedures.
3. Work closely with staff and administration on the review, prioritization, and implementation of Facility
Master Plan; insure that project design and construction meet the needs and expectations of the
educational programs and services.
4. Monitor construction projects, maintain and initiate schedule changes as necessary; coordinate and
review the work of architects and other contractors to assure timely completion of projects.
5. Prioritize, develop, and maintain detailed project plans to support the implementation of the facilities
master plan.
6. Coordinate project phases, review financial statements, and assure on-time delivery of projects.
7. Research, analyze, and recommend the feasibility of various improvement operations for more costeffective services.
8. Assist with bid process for bond facility projects and other projects funded by matching facility funds.

Building Maintenance and Repair
9. Ensure district facilities are functional, safe, clean, and well maintained.
10. Develop and maintain written departmental procedures for maintenance, repair, and operations of all district buildings and equipment. Ensure work orders are processed and executed in a timely manner.
11. Prepare plans and specifications for contracted repair work and site improvement for submission to purchasing department for bids.

Policy, Reports, and Law
12. Ensure compliance with federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.
13. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
14. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Budget and Inventory
15. Prepare the facility construction budget and assist in the budget implementation; participate in the cost estimates and forecast of additional funds needed for staff equipment, materials, and supplies.
16. Develop and administer budget based on documented needs and ensure operations are cost effective and funds are managed wisely.
17. Plan and direct inventory and stock control program for equipment and supplies.
18. Recommend disposal of obsolete equipment and purchase replacement equipment when necessary.
19. Initiate purchase orders and bids in accordance with budgetary limitations and district policies.
20. Approve and forward invoices and purchase orders for maintenance department to accounting department.

Personnel Management
21. Assist with the selection, training, and supervising, of staff and help make recommendations relative to assignment, retention, discipline, and dismissal.

Safety
22. Maintain safety standards in conformance with federal, state, and insurance regulations and district requirements and develop a program of preventive safety.
23. Ensure equipment is maintained in optimum operating condition.

Other
24. Participate in development of the districts disaster plan and be prepared to take an active role in responding to emergencies as needed.
25. May assume, and/or assist with, the responsibilities of the Director of Maintenance in their absence.

Salary Range: Starting at $77,983
