Description/Notes: | The Teacher, ROTC, will plan and implement an instructional program and provide related educational services for students in assigned grade levels.The incumbent will manage student behavior, assess and evaluate student achievement, and modify/control instructional activities as required. The ROTC teacher, under general supervision, will serve a general manager of the Junior ROTC (JROTC) Unit. Position Description Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform all teaching tasks required by assignment Conduct JROTC Unit planning sessions Lead in the development of instructional goals and objectives Develop JROTC budget requests for both FBISD and the appropriate governing agency Order equipment and supplies Perform mentoring role for Associate Instructors Assist principal in interviewing prospective Instructors Serve as liaison between JROTC Unit and District administration Perform duties delineated inJROTC program instruction as outlined by governing agency Participate in district required professional development Participate in Career and Technical Education (CTE) department professional development and designated district wide events Additional Information Work is performed generally in a classroom environment and other locations, within and outside, of the school. Employee must hold valid Texas Driver’s License and be able to provide reliable transportation to all assigned locations if serving in itinerant assignment. Must be able to handle stressful situations and meet deadlines. Qualifications: | Valid Texas Drivers License Minimum of 20 years Of active service (Note: One of the Naval Science Department instructors must be retired from the US Navy) Retired Army, Navy, Marine Corps or Coast Guard Commissioned Officer Must meet appropriate criteria to be classified as a JROTC instructor in accordance with governing agency Proven ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs Demonstrated ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives including the needs and abilities of students Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, and parents Excellent communication skills, both oral and written |
