Campus Description: With a student population of approximately 315 (Pre-K 12th grade), Miller Grove school is large enough to offer several electives and extracurricular activities for students to choose from, yet small enough to be able to cater to the students academic needs. Academics have always been top priority at Miller Grove. This is evident by the district receiving an A rating on recent state testing. Students also excel in Academic UIL, Athletics, FFA/Agriculture, Robotics, One Act Play, and many other activities. Our school mascot is the Hornet, and our colors are green and gold.

Description/Notes: Miller Grove ISD is a small and rural 1-A school district. It is located at the intersection of FM 1567 and FM 275 South, in the southwest corner of Hopkins County, Texas. The district was established in the 1860s and has thrived throughout the generations. Longevity of employment at Miller Grove is frequent. Faculty and staff often choose to work for the district for the duration of their teaching career. Some employees are able to celebrate 20 and 30 years with the district. The community, teachers, and school board trustees have always been very supportive of the needs of the district. From passing bond elections to enjoying social events at Miller Grove School Fall Carnival, FFA Stew & Auction, Ballgames, etc. the community is what has kept the district functioning for over 160 years.
Qualifications: The district seeks a candidate who has:
A valid Superintendent Certificate from Texas or another state.
At least five years classroom teaching experience and a successful tenure as a campus-level principal and/or central office administrator. K-12 experience is desired.
A strong commitment to open communication between the administration, the board, faculty, and staff.
A strong knowledge of budgeting, Chapter 48 public school finance, and an understanding of the importance of being fiscally conservative.
Demonstrated strong skills in educational leadership, especially in respect to uniting staff, parents, and community in the pursuit of student achievement.
A willingness to support student performance success in all areas, including dual credit, career, and technical readiness programs.
A desire and experience in maintaining strong and successful UIL academic, athletic, vocational, and fine arts programs.
Integrity and exemplary moral character along with excellent people skills.
Shown maturity, stability, and willingness to stay in a district for five or more years.
The desire and ability to work with all stakeholders.
An understanding of small schools that serve a diverse population, while navigating their unique expectations and needs, including social/emotional wellness.
A strong desire to be a part of the community and the willingness to attend extra-curricular and community events.
A willingness to hire, train, and promote the best staff possible and develop leaders within the district.
A willingness to live within a 30-mile radius of the district.
A strong advocate for the district both locally and statewide.
High expectations for MGISD students, faculty, staff, and community with the vision to take a great school and make it even better.
Salary Range: Salary is commensurate with experience and success in a 1A district in Region 8.
Benefits: Travel, benefits and contract are commensurate with regional ranges, and may include longevity incentives.
