Description/Notes: Primary Purpose
Responsible for supporting all end-user hardware and software needs for students and staff employees. Provide expertise and direction in the development and planning of technology systems districtwide.
Qualifications: Education/Certification:
Bachelors degree in computer science, business administration or related field; or a degree in another field plus comparable experience

Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of computer networks, hardware, and software applications
Knowledge of computer applications development and implementation
Ability to manage budget and personnel and coordinate district functions
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to interpret data and work under pressure
Knowledge of school systems

Experience:
Minimum of five (5) years supervisory and management experience in an information systems
department for a large business/organization or in the educational environment
Experience in ERP systems and design, instructional uses of technology, and computer
networking
Experience supporting Desktops, laptops, chromebooks, printers, and IOS devices

Major Responsibilities and Duties

Technology and Information Management
1. Analyze complex business needs presented by schools and administrative departments, and develop and implement technical solutions. Explain technology solutions to senior
management through presentation and advocacy.

2. Manage, direct, and assign priorities and personnel to major projects to ensure attainment of district and department goals and objectives.

3. Develop and implement district standards and specifications for hardware and software use.

4. Maintain software packages for the Districts operations departments.

5. Responsible for overseeing the inventory of all technology related equipment and determines the equipment lifecycle from procurement to disposal.

6. Oversee support between the education service center and district staff, including
programming, application support, and end-user support.

7. Plan, organize, maintain, and control the activities of the technology department as related to the districts finance and payroll operations, personnel operations, warehousing, inventory control, fixed assets, and technology work orders.

8. Ensures the maintenance and renewal of all IT support services hardware and software
agreements

9. Establish procedures for the utilization of existing and future data processing equipment.

10. Ensure that district technologies are maintained and repaired efficiently and as swiftly as possible.

11. Coordinate with other departments to facilitate the use of technology.

12. Coordinate technology assessment, planning, acquisition, installation and associated training with other departments.

13. Maintain interactive displays and coordinate the training with the Digital Learning team

Policies, Reports, and Law
14. Implement the policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy in the area of information management and technology.

15. Responsible for the development and implementation of privacy and security policies and practices.

16. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents as required.

17. Participate in research of and application for technology-related grants or revenue sources.

Budget
18. Develop and administer the information technology budget based on documented needs, and ensure that operations are cost-effective and funds are managed wisely.

19. Coordinate the purchase of all computer hardware, software, and supplies.

20. Manage the budgeting, initiate purchase orders and bids in accordance with budgetary
limitations and district policies.

Personnel Management
21. Select, train, supervise, and evaluate staff; and make recommendations relative to
assignment, retention, discipline, and dismissal.

22. Assist with developing and implementing training for district personnel.

Professional Growth and Development:
23. Pursue continuous improvement and growth in knowledge of leadership skills and
advancements in technology services.

Other:
24. Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Information Officer and the Superintendent of Schools.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervise Technology Services Department staff

Evaluation
The Executive Director of Technology Services evaluation is a responsibility resting with the Chief Information Officer. An evaluation shall be completed in writing at least once during the course of each school year

Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Work occasional prolonged or irregular hours; work
is primarily performed in an office environment with frequent districtwide and statewide travel
